    摘要: A liquid crystal display and a method of fabricating the same is capable of strengthening adhesion between a sealant and a lower plate in a panel with a high aperture ratio to which an organic protective film is applied. The organic protective film and a gate insulating film are patterned in such a manner that the sealant comes into contact with a substrate directly. Accordingly, the organic protective film or the gate insulating film at the area coated with the sealant is partially or entirely removed to directly contact the sealant with the gate insulating film or the lower glass, thereby strengthening the adhesion between the sealant and the lower plate.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device, and a fabricating method thereof, that is capable of providing uniform liquid cell gaps. A main seal defines a liquid crystal injection area. A first step coverage-compensating layer is provided between a substrate on which the main seal has been coated and the main seal. A plurality of dummy seals is arranged external to the main seal. A second step coverage-compensating layer having the same thickness as the first step coverage-compensating layer is provided between the substrate on which the dummy seals are arranged and the dummy seals. Accordingly, a main seal and dummy seals having the same thickness produce uniform liquid crystal cell gaps. The liquid crystal display device is beneficially made by a fabrication process employing four or five masks.

    摘要: An array substrate of the present invention includes a storage capacitor that has a storage-on-gate structure. One embodiment of the present invention discloses the array substrate having a metal island pattern on the substrate beneath a drain electrode. The metal island pattern is disposed beneath a drain contact hole through which a pixel electrode contacts the drain electrode. Since the metal island pattern has the same thickness as the gate line, the passivation layer can have the same height both in a drain region and in a storage region. Over-etching is minimized with the passivation layer in the drain and storage region having the same uniform thickness.

    摘要: An array substrate of the present invention includes a storage capacitor that has a storage-on-gate structure. The storage capacitor includes a gate line as a first electrode and a capacitor electrode as a second electrode. The capacitor electrode particularly has an extension that protruding from the capacitor electrode into a pixel region. Thus, when connecting a pixel electrode to the storage capacitor, the pixel electrode contacts the extension of the capacitor electrode.     摘要: A liquid crystal display device, and a fabricating method thereof, with improved bonding of an upper plate to a lower plate. The lower plate includes an organic protective film over an inorganic gate insulating layer that is on a substrate. Channels through the organic protective film expose either metal patterns or the gate insulating layer. A seal coated with a sealant is then placed over the organic protective film and channels. The sealant passes through the channels to the metal patterns or to the gate insulating layer. Bonding of the seal to the lower plate is improved by the sealant that contacts the metal patterns and/or the gate insulating layer. During LCD fabrication, the metal patterns act as etch stops when etching the channels. Alternatively, an etch stop semiconductor layer is placed on the gate insulating film. The etch stops prevent the etching process from exposing the lower substrate.
