    摘要: The invention is a strain-relief device for use with a cable-plug assembly wherein the wires of the cable are connected to the terminals of a plug. The strain-relief device comprises a first half-housing for receiving the cable-plug assembly, a second half-housing that fits over the first half-housing thereby forming an enclosure that holds the cable-plug assembly immobile, and at least one latch for holding the half-housings together when the latch is engaged. Alignment features incorporated in the half-housings enable a user to bring the half-housings into alignment prior to engaging at least one latch thereby avoiding damage to either half-housing during the assembly of the device. The strain-relief device includes a means for disengaging the latches after the half-housings have been assembled into an enclosure and the latches have been engaged thereby permitting the half-housings to be separated from each other after assembly. The strain-relief device also includes a means for restricting the movement of the plug and cable relative to the enclosure.

    摘要: A transvenous implantable defibrillation lead includes a conductor and inner and outer coaxial cylindrical electrodes. The inner electrode is connected to the conductor, and the outer electrode is connected to a sheath overlying the conductor in rotatable relationship thereto. The sheath is fixed to the outer cylindrical electrode so that rotation of the sheath relative to the conductor results in rotation of the inner and outer cylindrical electrodes relative to each other. The inner electrode has a plurality of hooks extending generally transversely and tangentially thereto, with the hooks being biased such that the terminal ends of the hooks tend to spring outwardly from the inner electrode. The hooks are constrained against the inner cylindrical electrode by the outer cylindrical electrode, except that a window in the outer electrode permits the hooks to spring outwardly therethrough upon rotation of the outer electrode relative to the inner electrode. Once the hooks are so exposed, rotation of the inner and outer electrodes in unison permits the hooks to engage cardiac tissue. The hooks provide fixation as well as conducting electrical stimulus to the cardiac tissue.

    摘要: A beverage container is equipped with a rotatable cover and an automatically extendable drinking straw. The container includes an open ended body closed by a removable cap, a straw unit inserted through a conduit on the cap, a cover member rotatably fitted on the cap for rotational movement relative to the cap between a first position allowing the straw to extend through a slot of the cover member and a second position folding the straw unit and closing the slot. A groove formed on the cap engages a raised spot formed on the inner edge of the cover member for indicating when the cover member is rotated to either the first or second position. The straw unit includes a first straw made of elastomeric material and a second straw made of rigid material and sized so that the first straw is held between the conduit and the second straw in a coaxial relation without the use of fastening elements.

    摘要: An inspection system (2) employs a beam of monochromatic light (12) that travels through a Fourier transform lens (16) before striking a specimen wafer (4) at an angle (.THETA.) with respect to the normal (26) of the specimen wafer (4) to produce diffracted light (28b ) and 28c) that has a broad spatial frequency spectrum which can be selectively filtered to produce a dark field image pattern of the various sized defects in an inspection area (22) of the wafer. The nearly collimated beam of monochromatic light strikes the wafer at an angle (.THETA.) with respect to the normal of the wafer of between zero degrees and a predetermined maximum angle. For the inspection system disclosed, the predetermined maximum angle is the angle formed when the beam of monochromatic light is as far away from the optic axis as possible yet still within the numerical aperture of the Fourier transform lens (16). Moreover, if a specific range of defect sizes is anticipated, the system can be optimized by setting the angle (.THETA.) at which the collimated beam of monochromatic light strikes the wafer to the angle (.THETA.) which allows the system to collect those spatial frequencies which are best representative of the anticipated range of defects sizes.

The sorting machine functions independently of the central processor unit except for the use of a start and finish signal. The sorting machine includes two control buffers holding data representing parameters selected for the data processing operation, a job identification control buffer, and a plurality of cells each of which contains two key buffers holding data used for a sort/merge basis, two pointer buffers holding data defining an original sequence order for key data, a control register for indicating the last data to be sorted, and a processor for logically comparing pairs of data entities being sorted and for determining further cell directions.
