摘要: An apparatus for protecting an occupant in a vehicle includes a pair of image sensors for taking images of an area on a seat in the vehicle. Transverse-direction shifts between corresponding portions of the images are calculated. Longitudinal-direction positions of objects whose images are in the portions of the images taken by the image sensors are measured in response to the calculated transverse-direction shifts. A longitudinal-direction position of an occupant on the seat is decided in response to the measured longitudinal-direction positions of the objects. Occupant protecting operation at a time of occurrence of a collision of the vehicle is changed in response to the decided longitudinal-direction position of the occupant. From the measured longitudinal-direction positions of the objects, one corresponding to a highest position with respect to the vehicle and being in front of the seat is selected as a longitudinal-direction position of a head of the occupant.

摘要: A wiring substrate is configured such that each of laminate portions provided above and below a substrate core includes insulating layers and conductor layers stacked alternately. Of the conductor layers of the laminate portions, signal line layers are treated with a silane coupling treatment, which is a surface modification treatment, so that each signal line comprises a flat surface. A roughening treatment is performed on the remaining conductor layers of the laminate portions such that the surfaces of these layers are roughened. This structure provides an advantage when high-frequency signals are transmitted through the signal line layers. That is, when each signal line comprises a flat surface, an increase in conductor loss due to the skin effect can be prevented. In addition, by means of chemical bonding attained through the silane coupling treatment, the reliability of adhesion between the signal line layers and the insulating layer is sufficiently attained.

摘要: In the measurement device, the blood pressure of the upper arm and the blood pressure of the lower limb are measured using cuffs attached to the upper arm and the lower limb (ankle), respectively. The pulse wave of the upper arm and the pulse wave of the lower limb are measured in synchronization using such cuffs. The upper arm-lower limb pulse wave propagation velocity (baPWV) is calculated based on the appearance time difference of the two pulse waves. The upper arm pulse wave propagation velocity (upper arm PWV) is calculated based on the appearance time difference of the ejection wave and the reflection wave in the upper arm pulse wave. If the values of such propagation velocities are different, a warning is issued.

摘要: This invention provides a magenta ink composition that, when recorded, is excellent in color development, graininess, and gloss, is less likely to cause clogging in an ink jet recording head, and is excellent in color reproduction in a high-chroma and high-lightness red region. The magenta ink composition has an L* value of not less than 60 and a b* value of not more than −17 when the a* value in CIE standard calculated from a visible absorption spectrum in a not more than 10000-fold diluted aqueous solution is 80.
