Abstract:
A method and apparatus for enabling partial combining on a Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) service are provided where a radio network controller (RNC) specifically informs a user equipment (UE) whether an MBMS service signal of the current cell is combinable with the same MBMS service signals received from different cells for each individual service or timing, through an MCCH or an MSCH, which is a type of a logical channel for an MBMS service, in a Uu interface. The UE combines the MBMS service signals transmitted from the different cells, thereby obtaining a gain in terms of utilization of transmission power and radio resources.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for controlling uplink transmission power in a handover region by a UE in communication with a Node B using an FCS scheme. The UE stores TPC commands received for a specific duration from a plurality of cells in an active set, if the UE enters in the handover region during communication with a current best cell. If a next best cell is selected from the plurality of the cells, the UE determines a transmission power offset by comparing TPC commands from the current best cell with TPC commands from the next best cell for the specific duration at a time point where the best cell is changed from the current best cell to the next best cell. The UE transmits initial transmission power for the next best cell at a transmission power level determined considering the transmission power offset.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting user equipment (UE) status information in communication with one serving Node B and at least one non-serving Node B in a mobile communication system. The method and apparatus comprise generating transport channel data including UE status information; transmitting the transport channel data to the serving Node B and the at least one non-serving Node B, receiving a response signal for the transport channel data from the serving Node B, and retransmitting the transport channel data if the response signal received from the serving Node B is a non-acknowledge (NACK) signal, and ending the retransmission of the transport channel data if the response signal received from the serving Node B is an acknowledge (ACK) signal.
Abstract:
An apparatus in a mobile communication system for providing a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) and a method for giving notification of an MBMS service while considering transmission mode are provided. A controlling radio network controller (CRNC) sends, to a serving radio network controller (SRNC), transmission mode information indicating point-to-point (PTP), point-to-multipoint (PTM), or “Not provide” cell by cell. The SRNC determines service notification on the basis of the transmission mode information. The CRNC minimizes a signaling load on an Iur interface when sending, to the SRNC, the transmission mode information suitable for each cell.
Abstract:
A method for minimizing overhead occurring caused by control information for encryption performed to protect MBMS data for an MBMS service in a mobile communication system. This method is implemented by distinguishing a case in which control information used for encryption is updated from another case in which the control information used for encryption is not updated, and transmitting different control information according to the distinguishment result. That is, when the control information used for encryption is not updated, only minimized control information is transmitted, and when the control information for encryption is updated, the entire updated control information is transmitted. Accordingly, the amount of control information transmitted along with MBMS data is minimized, contributing to an increase in the amount of MBMS data transmitted per unit time.
Abstract:
A method of transmitting and receiving MBMS service availability information. To support the mobility of UEs receiving an MBMS service, an RNC transmits, to each of a plurality of cells under its control, an MBMS service availability message including service availability information and resource availability information regarding at least one MBMS service available in the cell. From the MBMS service availability message, a UE determines if a desired MBMS service can be received in a current cell currently or in the future. The UE requests the desired MBMS service or selects another cell capable of providing the MBMS service.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing an MBMS service to a plurality of cells in a mobile communication system are provided. In a mobile communication system including an RNC for providing an MBMS service and a plurality of Node Bs connected to the RNC, for providing the MBMS service to UEs within a plurality of cells. The RNC is configured to have a plurality of lower-layer entities corresponding to the cells. An RLC and PDCP entity that area common to the cells, receive MBMS data from an upper layer and transmit, upon receiving a request from one of the lower-layer entities, the MBMS data to the lower-layer entity. Therefore, the RNC can provide the MBMS service more efficiently, and unnecessary consumption of system resources is reduced.
Abstract:
A terminal and method for receiving a broadcast service by the terminal in a broadcast system are provided. The method includes performing a registration procedure for subscription and reception of the broadcast service through a Browser And Content Mobile Broadcast (BSCAST) Subscription Management (BSM) responsible for managing subscription information; receiving a Long Term Key Message (LTKM), including key information for encryption of the broadcast service, generated from the BSM; receiving a completed Short Term Key Message (STKM), the completed STKM being generated by performing Message Authentication Code (MAC) processing on a partially created STKM; receiving, from a Broadcast Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSD/A) which is responsible for transmitting the broadcast service, an encrypted broadcast service which is encrypted by a Traffic Encryption Key (TEK) for deciphering the broadcast service; and deciphering the encrypted broadcast service by the TEK obtained using the LTKM and the completed STKM.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for processing a rich media user interface composed of a plurality of component objects that is capable of transferring information from a group of component objects having a specific function but not supporting the export of information to a group of component objects importing information only through predetermined paths through unpredictable path are provided. The method for processing content composed of user interface component objects includes receiving content including a plurality of user interface component objects, extracting exportable information which is defined to be exportable outside the content, and transferring the extracted exportable information to a target object.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for providing a security service for UI applications in a network system. In a network supporting a user interface, encryption-unneeded data is distinguished from data in which security identifier is specified, that indicates a need for security between a server and a communication device, and the distinguished data is transmitted over a security channel and a general channel separately.
