    摘要: A system, method and a computer-readable medium for authenticating a user in a live manner in non-face-to-face transactions, including a user downloading an authentication application from a server to a pervasive computing device, and after downloading the application, having an icon residing on the display of the device. When the authentication application is activated by the user, biographical and multi-biometric information of the user is requested by the application, and subsequently submitted to an authentication engine residing in a secure network cloud. The authentication process further includes, verifying by the authentication engine all of the requested information, compliance with government regulations such as CFT/AML, and the 4th Data Protection Principle. Users have the ability to check their biographical data through a system called, RITE, forming part of this application. Memorised IDs and passwords are not required. The aliveness of the user is verified at each transaction request.

    摘要: An apparatus to enable the automatic release of a railway vehicle hand brake system from either side of the vehicle comprises a source of fluid pressure engageable with the vehicle. A release cylinder, operable by fluid pressure, is connected to a hand brake mechanism. A valve is connected intermediate the source of fluid pressure and the release cylinder causing the release cylinder to release the hand brake system. A first valve actuator is disposed on a first side of the vehicle and is connected intermediate the valve and the source of fluid pressure. A second valve actuator is disposed on an opposed second side of the vehicle and is connected intermediate the valve and the source of fluid pressure. Both the first and second valve actuators cause the valve to initiate communication of fluid pressure from the source of fluid pressure to the release cylinder.

    摘要: An apparatus for disinfecting a user's hands has a spray chamber or an open spray zone with an opening for a user to insert his or her hands into the chamber. A supply of a disinfecting solution is provided, and preferably comprises a storage tank with a concentrated solution. This solution is mixed with an incoming freshwater supply, e.g. in a venturi valve, and supplied through spray nozzles into the chamber. A sensor detects the presence of a user's hands and automatically operates the spray nozzles for a predetermined time. The apparatus can also include a fan with its own timer, to provide a supply of drying air. Thus, a user can insert his or her hands, disinfect them with the disinfecting solution, remove the hands and dry them, without requiring any manual operation.

    摘要: The present invention discloses new polymers which can assume an accordion-like conformation of the backbone. These polymers are prepared by the copolymerization of two difuntional, chemically precoupled precursors to chromophoric units. The resulting polymers have a head-to-head, tail-to-tail topology (a syndioregic arrangement of rigid units along the polymer backbone), and the molecular units are designed to fold into an "accordion" conformation. This useful microstructure (a three-dimensional conformation) forms spontaneously (self-assembles); or, it can be brought about by field-assisted processing. Films and fibers of these polymers have useful second-order nonlinear optical properties, and may be used for the modulation and switching of optical communications signals.
