The gear boxes are attached to the right and left upper rails via the openings, respectively. A slide rail of a vehicle seat includes a first rail to which a screw having a screw thread formed on an outer periphery is fixed; a second rail that retains a nut into which the screw screws, and moves relative to the first rail by the nut rotating; a protruding portion that is provided on the first rail, and protrudes toward the screw; and an elastic member that connects the protruding portion and the screw. The elastic member has a retaining body that retains the screw, and an engaging body that engages with the protruding portion.

A vehicle seat includes: a side frame of a seat cushion; a seat support member on a floor side; and a joining bracket that joins the side frame and the seat support member together. The seat support member has at least an upper surface and side surfaces and has a hat shape in cross section in a direction orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the seat support member. The joining bracket has a fastening surface portion that comes in surface contact with the upper surface of the seat support member and is fastened by a single fastening unit to the upper surface of the seat support member at the fastening surface portion. The joining bracket has at least one projecting portion capable of coming in contact with at least one of the side surfaces of the seat support member.

There is disclosed a vehicle seat having an operating member to operate an operating seat mechanism disposed in the seat, and a pivoting operation lever coupled to the operating member to exert a pivoting operation force, thereby operating the operating seat mechanism, the operating member is integrally constituted of a shaft portion and an arm portion, the pivoting operation lever has a holding region and a coupling region to transmit the pivoting operation force to the operating member, and the coupling region has a fitting portion which fits on the shaft portion from an axial direction, and an output surface portion which comes in contact with the arm portion in a pivoting direction of the arm portion.

A seat reclining apparatus is provided in which a spring cover which covers a lock spring for rotationally biasing a rotational cam can be easily and securely mounted to an outer surface of a base plate or a ratchet plate.The seat reclining apparatus is provided with a lock spring disposed to face the outer surface of the base plate or disposed in a hole in the base plate to bias and rotate the rotational center shaft in a direction to rotate the rotational cam toward the locked position, and a spring cover disposed to face the outer surface of the base plate and covers the lock spring, and to make an inner surface of one of the seat cushion side frame and the seatback side frame contact an outer surface of a protrusion which is projected from the spring cover.

A method of bending a long member includes applying a tensile force to the long member to draw out the long member in a lengthwise direction thereof, measuring a displacement of the long member after commencement of the application of the initial tensile force, and bending the long member by applying a correction tensile force and a bending pressure for bending the long member into a curved shape in the lengthwise direction simultaneously to the long member upon the displacement exceeding a predetermined tensile fracture threshold value within a predetermined period of time or after a lapse of the predetermined period of time without the displacement exceeding the tensile fracture threshold value. The correction tensile force is smaller than the tensile force at the time the displacement exceeds the tensile fracture threshold value or the tensile force at the lapse of the predetermined period of time.

The shaft member includes a tubular portion having a through-hole, and a protruding portion protruding toward an outside in a radial direction from one end of the tubular portion in an axial direction. The shaft member is assembled to the seat frame in a state in which the tubular portion is inserted through the seat frame from a seat outside, and an insertion position of the shaft member in the axial direction is restricted by a position where the protruding portion abuts against an outside surface of the seat frame. The rod is inserted in the axial direction through the through-hole in the shaft member, and assembled to the shaft member.

A footrest apparatus for a vehicle seat includes a fixed member fixed to the vehicle seat, a footrest movable between a retracted position and an operating range, and a link mechanism which connects the fixed member and the footrest to each other and moves the footrest between the retracted position and the operating range by extending and contracting. The link mechanism includes a pair of link members which rotate in synchronization with each other, each of which is formed as a plate that is orthogonal to a widthwise direction of the vehicle seat, and a connecting member formed as a plate which extends in the widthwise direction, wherein common edges of the pair of link members are connected to opposite ends of the connecting member in the widthwise direction, respectively.
