摘要: An electronic equipment is provided, which includes a plurality of boot devices and a basic input/output system (BIOS). The BIOS is electrically coupled to the boot devices and used for recording driving parameters of the boot devices and a driving sequence of the driving parameters. The BIOS drives the boot devices by using the driving parameters according to the driving sequence, so as to perform a system booting operation of the electronic equipment. When any one of the boot devices accomplishes the system booting operation, the BIOS adjusts a driving parameter corresponding to the boot device as a first order of the driving sequence, so that the boot device becomes a first selected system booting device. Furthermore, a boot method for an electronic equipment and a storage medium thereof are provided.

摘要: A method for executing the power on self test (POST) on the computer system and a method for updating the SMBIOS information partially are provided for a computer system with a first memory and a second memory, wherein the first memory comprises a first storage block and a second storage block. A user can previously set the specific SMBIOS information in the second storage block. And during the POST stage, the default SMBIOS information in the BIOS code loaded from the first storage block to the second memory will be partially updated according to the specific SMBIOS information set by the user. As a result, the purpose of using the appropriated SMBIOS information to initiate the computer system can be achieved.

摘要: A method of remapping memory, which is suitable for a server without a video graphics array (VGA), is provided. In the invention, a video memory buffer block is set in a system memory. First, a power on self test (POST) is executed for initializing the system memory. Next, a remap function is enabled. Then, a base address and a size of the video memory buffer block are set into a remap register of a chipset. Finally, the video memory buffer block is remapped into a memory address space originally mapped with a system management mode block according to the remap register.

摘要: A data protection method of a storage device, applied in a computer having a storage device, is provided. The storage device is consisted of a plurality of blocks. The method includes the following steps. When a data containing a plurality of bit data is stored in the storage device in the computer, the stored bit data is checked bit by bit. If an incorrect bit data is checked, the data in the block containing the incorrect bit data is backed up to a reserved block. Therefore, the memory capacity of the storage device is not occupied while backing up data, so as to improve the reliability of the computer.

摘要: A boot-switching apparatus suitable for a system having a plurality of processors and a plurality of memories and a method thereof are provided. While booting the system, a single timer is used for counting down a time-out and it is determined whether a disabling signal sent by a Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is received during the countdown. If the disabling signal is not received and the time-out is up, whether the processors operate normally is further detected and a plurality of detection signals is obtained. Next, whether each of the detection signals matches its corresponding enabling signal is determined. If the two do not match, the corresponding processor is disabled. If all of them match, the memories are switched. Accordingly, the problem of misjudgment in the prior art can be resolved and the system can be led to select normal processor and memory for executing its booting.

摘要: A method for reading input/output port data is provided. In the present method, a write trap procedure is enabled so that the data is stored in a buffer first when there is data to be written in the input/output port. Then, a read trap procedure is enabled so that the data stored in the buffer is read out and used as the data of the input/output port when there is a need to read the data of the input/output port. Therefore, the defect in the prior art that the basic input/output system (BIOS) in a direct input/output mode can only be written in but cannot be read out is resolved.

摘要: A method for dynamically allocating interrupt pins is provided. The present method is used for allocating a plurality of interrupt pins of a control chip. In the present method, a hardware routing table is read first and a plurality of slots that have used the interrupt pins is found out from the hardware routing table. These slots are sorted according to the number of interrupt pins used by each slot. Then, from the slot in the first order of the sequence, the interrupt pins are allocated for a plurality of registers in the control chip corresponding to these slots by turns. The allocation is repeated once the last interrupt pin is allocated until all the registers for the slots are allocated with an interrupt pin.

摘要: A computer platform operating system compatibility management method and system is proposed, which is designed for use in conjunction with a computer platform, such as a network server, for the computer platform to be selectively bootable between an old-version operating system (such as Windows NT4.0) and a new-version operating system (such as Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000). This feature allows the customer to selectively install either an old-version operating system or an new-version operating system successfully onto the server, and allow both old-version operating system and new-version operating system to be compatible with the hardware of the server.

摘要: A method for dynamically arranging interrupt pins is provided, which is suitable for arranging a plurality of interrupt pins of a control chip. In this method, a number of interrupts sent from each of a plurality of device paths in a unit time is detected. The device paths are sorted according to the interrupt numbers thereof. Then, from the one in the head of the sequence, the devices paths are arranged to the interrupt pins. Herein, when arranging a device path, an interrupt checking number required to check the device path sending the interrupt every time an interrupt is produced in each of the interrupt pins is calculated. Then, when arranging the next device path, the device path is arranged to the interrupt pin with the least interrupt checking number.

摘要: A method for initiating a system is provided. In the present invention, a specific data, which is not used for executing an initiating program of an interface device, is moved from a conventional memory to an extended memory temporarily, such that the available space of the conventional memory is increased. As a result, the computer system can have enough conventional memory space for loading and executing the initiating program of the interface device during a Power-On Self Test (POST) so as to achieve the purpose of initiating the system.
