Abstract: One wireless telecommunications system includes a Mobile Central Office (MCO) for capacity sharing. The MCO is communicatively coupled to a plurality of wireless base stations, each being operable to handle a session from a wireless device and to handoff the session to another base station when the wireless device moves into a range of the other base station. The MCO is operable to detect capacity on a base station to which it is coupled, to request capacity for the base station from a remotely located master scheduling system, to acquire at least a portion of the requested capacity from a base station of another MCO based on the request to the master scheduling system, to handle another session of another wireless device via the acquired capacity, and to release the acquired capacity to the master scheduling system when the first base station has completed use of the acquired capacity.

In one embodiment, a method includes transferring a buffer status report (BSR) from a user equipment (UE) through the communication link to a control portion of the virtualized wireless link, generating a wireless grant to allow the data of the UE through virtualized wireless link, and generating a backhaul grant for the UE to transfer data through the communication link based on the wireless grant information.

Abstract: A notification server is provided for a multi-network wireless communication system. The notification server includes a processor and a memory having computer executable instructions stored therein. The instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive first device information from a mobile communication device wirelessly connected to a macro cell network of the multi-network wireless communication system. The instructions further cause the processor to determine, based on the received first device information, that a small cell network of the multi-network wireless communication system is available for communication with the mobile communication device. The instructions further cause the processor to transmit a notification to the mobile communication device to search for the small cell network for transition thereto.

Abstract: A method for reducing latency during handover of user equipment (UE) between wireless base stations includes (a) receiving, at a network hub in an edge communication network, a first wireless signaling message from a source wireless base station, (b) determining, from the first wireless signaling message at the network hub, occurrence of a handover of UE from the source wireless base station to a target wireless base station, (c) in response to determining occurrence of the handover, translating, at the network hub, an address of first data packets intended for the UE from an address of the source wireless base station to an address of the target wireless base station, and (d) forwarding the first data packets from the network hub to the target wireless base station.
