    摘要: The subject matter disclosed herein relates to patient imaging systems, and more specifically, to portable X-ray imaging systems. In a first embodiment, a patient imaging system is presented. The patient imaging system includes an X-ray source configured to emit X-rays and a wireless X-ray detector configured to detect the emitted X-rays and acquire patient image data. The patient imaging system also includes an acquisition control system configured to initialize and prepare the patient imaging system for X-ray emission and detection. The acquisition control system is also configured to receive the acquired patient image data from the X-ray detector, and to non-deterministically control the operation of the X-ray source and the wireless X-ray detector. The patient imaging system also includes one or more user interfaces configured to instruct the acquisition control system when a user is ready for the patient imaging system to initialize, to prepare for X-ray emission and detection, and to begin X-ray emission and detection.

    摘要: A flexible, lightweight, easily maneuverable positioner for an imaging system. The positioning system in one example has a cart section with a base frame coupled to one or more wheels. There is a mast extending from the cart section and a linkage assembly coupled to a second end of the mast, wherein the mast is configured to swing about a vertical plane. There is a positioning arm coupled to the linkage assembly, wherein the positioning arm is configured to swing about at least one of a horizontal plane and the vertical plane. An imaging bracket is used to couple to the positioning arm and configured to receive an imaging unit. In one example, the positioner is coupled together by fasteners, wherein the positioner can be assembled and dis-assembled via the fasteners without tools.

Providing a calibration phantom system also includes providing a second phantom element material block having a second surface at a second height different than the first height, the second phantom element material block at least partially including a second material having a second attenuation coefficient different than the first attenuation coefficient, wherein the first phantom element material block and said second phantom element material block are co-positioned on a detector. The method also includes imaging the calibration phantom system to obtain phantom images, processing the phantom images, and extracting a plurality of calibration values from the processed phantom images.

    摘要: A technique to ascertain the presence or absence of an object in a three-dimensional volume, such as explosives in the side walls of luggage. The technique involves radiation scanning the three-dimensional volume to determine a property of each of a plurality of voxels representing the three-dimensional volume and to identify voxels having similar values of the property to identify a contiguous group of voxels having the similar values. Then, the contiguous group of voxels is identified as containing the object if a characteristic (such as mass and/or volume) of the contiguous group has a predetermined value.
