摘要: A system and method are disclosed for charging battery packs. A battery pack connects to an external battery charger. A processor of the battery pack recognizes that the processor is connected the external battery charger. The external battery charger provides charging parameters to the battery pack. The processor sends charging parameters to the external battery in response to recognizing that the processor is connected to the external battery charger.

摘要: Electric apparatus, computer apparatus, controller, and battery switching method and program is provided to prevent a system shutdown caused by a reduction of electric power from a battery. A computer apparatus is constructed to be able to accept and be powered by a rechargeable main battery and a rechargeable sub-battery. An embedded controller in the computer apparatus monitors a remaining capacity at a pre-specified temperature of the sub-battery under discharge by receiving information from CPU. When the monitored temperature exceeds a predetermined temperature and when the monitored remaining capacity becomes less than a predetermined capacity, the embedded controller receives electric power from the main battery by switching the power supply circuit to provide power from the main battery instead of the sub-battery.

摘要: In a power supply protection circuit, a FET and a diode are connected to a power line so as to protect an inner circuit from an excessive voltage caused by a device connected to an IEEE1394 bus. A switching circuit connected to the power line turns off the FET when the voltage of a port exceeds a reference voltage, which is lower than the withstand voltage of the inner circuit.

摘要: An electric supply system and device therefor including an AC adapter for supplying electric power received from external thereto; a battery being charged with electric power supplied from this AC adapter and enabled to supply electric power to the system by discharging the charged electric power; and a controller for controlling the supply of the electric power to the system from the AC adapter and the battery. The controller stops the supply of the electric power to the system from the AC adapter so as to supply the electric power to the system from the battery while the AC adapter connected to the system is powered off or loaded lightly.

摘要: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for controlling power consumption of the PC, which is provided with base loads comprising a plurality of components, as well as a CPU including operation modes of “throttling” and “clock-down”. Actual power consumption 103 of the CPU in a certain operation mode varies heavily or widely within a range of maximum power consumption of the CPU. A variation of actual power consumption 101 of the base loads is relatively gentle or mild. Predicted maximum power consumption (Pmax) of the PC is obtained from actual power consumption of the base loads and maximum power consumption in the current operation mode of the CPU. Reference power vales 121, 123, 125 are set up such that they are compared with the Pmax for changing an operation mode to another operation mode. When the Pmax exceeds a reference power vale, the operation mode of the CPU is changed for controlling actual power consumption of the PC.

摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling battery charging current selectively receive electrical power from either a first external power source or a second external power source and outputs part of the power source to a charger for charging a battery. A reference value supplying apparatus gives a first reference value equivalent to the output current capability of the first external power source when a charging-current controller is connected to the first external power source and gives a second reference value equivalent to the current capability of the second external power source when the charging-current controller is connected to the second external power source. A current detection circuit detects current that the charging-current controller receives from either the first external power source or the second external power source and a charging current control circuit controls a charging current in the charger so that the charging current does not exceed the first or second reference value detected by the current detection circuit.

摘要: A charging system capable of charging a battery cell so that the surface temperature of the battery cell does not exceed an upper temperature limit, is provided. A battery charger is configured in a manner such that a setting current is variable during charging. The battery charger starts charging of a secondary battery with a setting voltage set to a minimum charging current value. The surface temperature of the secondary battery is measured during charging. An estimated temperature value is calculated which is a surface temperature of the secondary battery, at which the secondary battery is charged up until a charging amount corresponding to the maximum surface temperature under assumption that the charging is performed with a present charging current value. The setting current is increased when the estimated temperature value is lower than the target temperature range and is reduced when the estimated temperature value is higher than the target temperature range. When the estimated temperature value belongs to the target temperature range, a present setting current is maintained.

摘要: In a battery pack with battery charger, a circuit derives a relatively low constant current from the charge current of the battery charger, and this relatively low constant current is used to charge the battery pack when temperature is below a threshold. Otherwise, the charge current from the battery charger is used, at least up to a high temperature threshold.
