摘要: An input apparatus is disclosed having a hand-sensing system, a wake-up detector, and a microcontroller. After a period of inactivity, the apparatus is placed into a sleep mode to conserve power. During the sleep mode, an electrical property that the hand-sensing system presents to the wake-up circuit is measured. If the electrical property exceeds a predetermined level, then the input apparatus is activated. In alternative embodiments, an accelerometer, a pressure switch, or a computer system's response can be used to trigger the activation of the input apparatus.

摘要: A dilatation balloon and catheter for insertion into a bodily conduit. The catheter (10) includes shaft (12) and a dilatation balloon (24) at the distal end of the shaft. The balloon is inflated via a central lumen (14) in the shaft for delivery of a fluid inflation media. The balloon is fabricated from a combination of a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), preferably an engineering thermoplastic elastomer (ETE), with a non-compliant structural polymeric material. The combination may be a blend of the non-compliant structural polymer and the TPE. Alternatively, the combination may be a layered balloon having, for example, a non-compliant structural polymer inner layer and a soft, abrasion resistant, elastomeric outer layer. Methods for fabricating the balloon from the combination of a TPE and a non-compliant structural polymer are also disclosed.

摘要: In a computer programming language environment wherein operations are specified in one or more parallel frame sequences of frames arranged on a time scale, a programming language provides user-specifiable semantics for defining the start times for starting the frames and the end times for ending the frames. A method may be executed according to a routine constructed using the programming language, wherein the method includes providing user-specified semantics for defining the start times for starting the frames and for defining the end times for ending the frames, and executing operations according to the start times and end times for the frames as defined by the user-specified semantics.

摘要: Labeling asymmetric network cables for improved network clock synchronization. Time asymmetries between pairs in a network cable are identified and associated with individual cables. This time asymmetry information is used to improve clock synchronization according to the IEEE-1588 standard. The time asymmetry information may be stored in a database and associated with a serial number on the cable, or may be associated with the cable in human and/or machine readable form.

摘要: A system and method is shown for determining the spatial boundary of certain measurable phenomena, such as broadcast signals, at various locations within geographical areas covered by the phenomenon. Data representing relative signal quality at various locations within the geographical area is created within a mobile device, such as a cell phone capable of receiving the phenomenon. The data is stored and refined within the device so as to define weak signal quality areas within at least a portion of the geographical area traveled by the mobile device. The refinement, which in one embodiment comprises coalescing and splitting stored data locations in the device allows for long storage periods by reducing memory requirements. By devoting the majority of memory to locations in the vicinity of the good/bad boundary, the most detailed picture possible of the boundary is achieved for a given amount of memory. By collecting such data from a plurality of such devices, a central system can map the signal strength over the entire geographical area.

摘要: Information that includes both a time component and a value component is collected. The time component provides time and duration information associated with the value component. The value component includes one or more attributes, such as, for example, quantity, magnitude, and model parameters. The information is then transmitted over a connection to one or more downstream entities. The one or more downstream entities may then determine whether to use all or a portion of the collected information.
