Abstract:
Novel glass and graphite filled copolyimides and polyimides useful as engineering plastics are prepared. Also fibers and oriented fibers from the copolyimides and polyimides derived from tetramethylcyclobutane 1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride and diamines are disclosed.
Abstract:
Process for the concurrent synthesis of benzophenone, anthraquinone, and o-dibenzoylbenzene by pyrolysis of benzoic acid salts of yttrium, erbium, and dysprosium and mixtures thereof at temperatures of from about 200.degree. C. to 500.degree. C. and a pressure of about 0.1 to about 100 atmospheres. In an alternative method, a benzoic acid compound is passed through an oxide of yttrium, erbium, dysprosium and mixtures thereof in the presence of steam.

Novel glass and graphite filled copolyimides and polyimides useful as engineering plastics are prepared. Also fibers and oriented fibers from the copolyimides and polyimides derived from tetramethycyclobutane 1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride and diamines are disclosed.
Abstract:
Novel polyimides, copolyimides and molding compositions are prepared from novel dianhydrides such as bicyclo[4.2.0]octane-2,5 diphenyl-7,8-dimethyl,3,4,7,8-tetracarboxylic dianhydride and bicyclo[4.2.0]octane-7,8-dimethyl-3,4,7,8-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride. The novel polyimides are useful as engineering plastics. The novel dianhydrides are useful for the preparation of the polyimides.
Abstract:
Novel polyimides and molding compositions are prepared from tricyclo[6.4.0.0.sup.2,7 ]dodecane-1,8,2,7-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride. Also a novel dianhydride-,tricyclo[6.4.0.0.sup.2,7 ]dodecane-1,8,2,7-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride is prepared by a novel photodimerization of 1-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride. The polyimides are useful as engineering plastics.
Abstract:
Novel copolyimides and molding compositions are prepared from tetramethylcyclobutane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride and mixtures of diamines. Also glass and graphite filled polyimides are prepared. The polyimides are useful as engineering plastics.
Abstract:
Hexa(meta-,para-carboxyphenyl)benzene compounds. The esters are useful as plasticizers for polyvinylchloride, heat transfer agents, hydraulic fluids, and insulating oils. The acid is suitable as a cross-linking agent for polymers containing hydroxyl or amine groups.
Abstract:
Beta-alkyl (or aryl) beta-hydroxyethyl heterocyclic sulfoxides are prepared by reacting an olefin and 2-mercaptobenzothiazole with oxygen in the presence of a dye sensitizer using visible light as an energy source at a temperature from -10.degree. to 70.degree. C.
Abstract:
2,3-Di-(carboxyphenyl) oxirane compounds and essentially linear polyesters and copolyesters therefrom. The esters are useful as plasticizers for polyvinylchloride.
Abstract:
Beta-phosphosulfoxy alcohols and preparation thereof by reacting an olefinically unsaturated compound and a poly-thiophosphoric acid with oxygen using actinic radiation as an energy source at a temperature of from -10.degree. to 70.degree. C., preferably in the presence of a dye sensitizer.
