摘要: A holographic projector is provided. The holographic projector includes a display device arranged to form a holographic wavefront by spatially modulating light in accordance with a hologram displayed thereon, a waveguide having an input arranged to receive the holographic wavefront, and a first surface and a second surface arranged to waveguide the holographic wavefront therebetween. The first surface of the waveguide is partially reflective-transmissive such that a plurality of replicas of the holographic wavefront are emitted therefrom. A size of the hologram is less than a size of an entrance pupil of a viewing system for receiving the holographic wavefront from the first surface of the waveguide and the hologram includes a first sub-hologram of a first region of an image adjoined to a second sub-hologram of a second region of the image.

摘要: There is provided a lighting system for a vehicle. The lighting system comprises a holographic projector and a light distribution system. The holographic projector comprises a hologram engine and a spatial light modulator. The hologram engine is arranged to output holograms. The spatial light modulator is arranged to display each hologram and spatially-modulate light in accordance with each hologram. The spatially-modulated light forms a holographic reconstruction, corresponding to each hologram, on a replay plane. The light distribution system comprises a plurality of optical fibres. Each optical fibre comprises an input optically-coupled to respective sub-area of the replay plane and an output optically coupled with an illumination sub-system of the vehicle.

摘要: A head-up display for a vehicle having a window. The head-up display comprises a picture generating unit and a projection engine. The picture generating unit is arranged to output pictures. Each picture comprises a first picture component and a second picture component. The projection engine is arranged to receive the pictures output by the picture generating unit and project the pictures onto the window of the vehicle in order to form a first virtual image of the first picture component at a first virtual image distance and a second virtual image of the second picture component at a second virtual image distance. Light of the first picture component is polarised in a first polarisation direction and light of the second picture component is polarised in a second polarisation direction perpendicular to the first polarisation direction. The projection engine comprises an optical element having first optical power in the first polarisation direction and second optical power in the second polarisation direction such that the first virtual image distance is not equal to the second virtual image distance. The projection engine is further arranged such that the first virtual image and second virtual image at least partially overlap.

摘要: A method of holographic projection includes projecting at least one calibration image. The method includes performing the following steps for each calibration image in order to determine a plurality of displacements vectors at a respective plurality of different locations on the replay plane: projecting the calibration image onto the replay plane using a first colour holographic channel by displaying a first hologram on a first spatial light modulator and illuminating the first spatial light modulator with light of the first colour; projecting the calibration image onto the replay using a second colour holographic channel by displaying a second hologram on a second spatial light modulator and illuminating the second spatial light modulator with light of the second colour, the first and second hologram corresponding to the calibration image; determining the displacement vector between the light spot formed by the first colour holographic channel and the light spot formed by the second colour holographic channel; and pre-processing an image for projection using the second colour holographic channel in accordance with the plurality of determined displacement vectors.

摘要: There is disclosed herein a display device comprising a picture generating unit, a waveguide pupil expander and a viewer-tracking system. The picture generating unit comprises a first display channel, a second display channel and a controller. The first display channel is arranged to output first spatially-modulated light of a first colour. The first spatially-modulated light corresponds to a first picture. The second display channel is arranged to output second spatially-modulated light of a second colour. The second spatially-modulated light corresponding to a second picture. The controller is arranged to drive the first display channel and second display channel. The waveguide pupil expander comprises a pair of parallel reflective surfaces. The waveguide pupil expander defines an input port and a viewing window. The input port is arranged to receive the first spatially-modulated light and the second spatially-modulated light. The viewing window is an area or volume within which a viewer may view the first picture and the second picture. The pair of parallel reflective surfaces is arranged to guide the first spatially-modulated light and the second spatially-modulated light from the input port to the viewing window by a series of internal reflections. The reflectivity of a first reflective surface of the pair of parallel reflective surfaces is provided by a graded coating. The graded coating is partially transmissive to light of the first colour and light of the second colour. The transmissivity of the graded coating is non-achromatic. The viewer-tracking system is arranged to determine a viewing position within the viewing window. The controller is arranged to maintain as substantially constant the colour balance of the first and second picture as seen from the viewing position based on the viewing position determined by the viewer-tracking system.

摘要: A light detection and ranging system arranged to scan a scene comprises a light source arranged to output light having a first characteristic. A spatial light modulator is arranged to receive the light from the light source and output spatially-modulated light in accordance with computer-generated holograms represented thereon. A holographic controller is arranged to output a plurality of holograms to the spatial light modulator. Each hologram is arranged to form a corresponding light footprint within the scene. The holographic controller is further arranged to change the position of the light footprint within the scene. A light detector is arranged to receive light having the first characteristic from the scene and output a light response signal. In embodiments, a first plurality of holograms are arranged to provide a first scan within the scene, and the holographic controller is arranged to receive the light response signal in response to the first scan and determine a second plurality of holograms based on a property of the light response signal.

The reflectivity of a first reflective surface of the pair of parallel reflective surfaces is provided by a graded coating. The graded coating is partially transmissive to light of the first colour and light of the second colour. The transmissivity of the graded coating is non-achromatic. The viewer-tracking system is arranged to determine a viewing position within the viewing window. The controller is arranged to maintain as substantially constant the colour balance of the first and second picture as seen from the viewing position based on the viewing position determined by the viewer-tracking system.
