A lens case ejector (28) is slidingly mounted on the housing top wall (15) and includes an elongate member (57) extending into the lens case receiving compartment to provide a key for positioning the lens case base against the heating block. The ejector also forms a pusher (56) to engage the lens case. A barrier wall (27a) isolates the lens case compartment from a cavity (48a) in the housing that contains electrical circuitry. Springs (50) press the lens case against the heating block.

摘要： Contact lens disinfector unit for sterilizing contact lenses contained within a lens case, wherein the contact lenses are of the type which preferably should be sterilized or disinfected once each day and periodically cleaned after a predetermined number of sterilizing or disinfecting cycles. The heating unit includes a housing in which is disposed a heating block arranged to contact the lens case, and circuit means operatively associated with the heating block and adapted to be coupled to a source of electric potential for utilizing electric current to apply heat to the heating block. The circuit applies the electric current for a sufficient period of time to attain a desired sterilizing temperature within the case, and then terminates the heating cycle allowing the lens case and the contact lenses to cool, thereby completing the overall sterilizing cycle. The disinfector unit includes a cycle indicating arrangement which is responsive to the temperature changes of the heating block for providing a first indication upon reaching the sterilizing temperature and a second indication responsive to the heating block returning to a reduced temperature below the sterilizing temperature. The first indication indicates that the heating block is at an elevated temperature and the second indication indicates the number of sterilizing cycles which have been employed since the contact lenses were last cleaned.

摘要： A chemical sterilization process for contact lenses, and apparatus for practicing said method, wherein the lens are subjected to the anti-microbial action of a sterilizing solution, with said solution being decomposed by a catalytic agent. The apparatus of the present invention concerns primarily a capsule in which the lens are mounted, and an inverter-timer. Initially the sterilizing agent is introduced into the capsule and the catalytic agent positioned above and out of contact with said solution. The capsule is assembled to said inverter, and after expiration of a preset period, said capsule is inverted to establish contact between the catalytic agent and said solution and thereby commences the decaying reaction.

摘要： The embodiment of the invention disclosed herein is directed to a magnifying lens structure adapted to receive a light from within a housing and transmit the light toward an object point of the lens to illuminate the area thereabout. The lens structure has two parallel strips of refractive surfaces on opposite sides of a magnifying lens. The light is transmitted into the transparent lens material and therethrough to the strips of refractive surfaces whereupon the light is directed to the area which surrounds the object point for better viewing of the area.

摘要： A plug-in type contact lens disinfecting apparatus includes a housing having formed therein a pair of receptacles, each having an open top portion for receiving a contact lens therewithin to be sterilized. A removable and releasable cap is provided for closing and sealing the open top portion of each of the receptacles and an electrically-energizable heater heats the receptacles to a preselected temperature for sterilizing contact lenses. An adaptor is provided for engagement with an electrical power source for delivering electrical power therefrom to the heater, and a cap guard is provided for operatively engaging the caps and the adaptor for preventing removal of the caps from the receptacles when the adaptor is engaged with said source of AC power. The apparatus may also include an arrangement for maintaining the contact lens receptacles in an upright position relative to the open tops thereof during engagement of the adaptor with an electrical power source which is oriented at either of two orientations substantially 90.degree. apart.

摘要： A tape dispenser apparatus for tape having an adhesive surface includes a first supply compartment for holding a continuous length of the tape and a second compartment for holding a plurality of individual tabs or cover members which can be successively removed from the second compartment and applied to portions of the adhesive tape surface to provide multiple, covered adhesive surface portions of the tape. The dispenser has guide structure for guiding displacement of the tape to the second compartment for the removal and adherence of the tabs or cover members. Two of the cover members can be applied to the adhesive surface in spaced sequence to form an expanse of the exposed adhesive between the covered portions so that the medial adhesive surface of the tape can be applied for example to a patient's eyelids or surgical dressings by manipulating the covered tape portions which thereby insulate the fingers of the manipulator from the adhesive tape surface, after which the cover members can be optionally removed.
