Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for assisting operation of a vehicle using speech recognition. One method involves automatically identifying an input element based at least in part on an audio communication with respect to the vehicle, identifying one or more constraints associated with the input element, obtaining a limited command vocabulary for the input element using the one or more constraints, and automatically constructing a contextual speech recognition graph for the input element prior to user selection of the input element using the limited command vocabulary. Thereafter, subsequently received audio input is recognized using the contextual speech recognition graph that was automatically and prospectively generated.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting a potential ambiguity in a sequence of clearance communications using conversational contextual information to identify potentially related communications. One exemplary method involves obtaining a first clearance communication associated with a first aircraft, obtaining a second clearance communication associated with a second aircraft, identifying a first conversational context associated with the first clearance communication, identifying a second conversational context associated with the second clearance communication, identifying a discrepancy between the first clearance communication and the second clearance communication based at least in part on the first conversational context and the second conversational context, and in response to identifying the discrepancy, generating a user notification at one of the first aircraft and the second aircraft.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring aircraft to mitigate potential loss of communication scenarios. One exemplary method involves monitoring a plurality of communications channels using an onboard communications system, maintaining associations between respective communications channel assignments and respective operational contexts based on the plurality of clearance communications, and in response to detecting a change in an operational context of the aircraft, providing indication of a recommended communications channel based on an association between the recommended communications channel and one of the plurality of different operational contexts corresponding to a current operational context of the aircraft.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for monitoring execution of air traffic control (ATC) conditional clearances for a user aircraft. The method monitors ATC clearances transmitted to all other aircraft across each communication channel from an airport. Every other aircraft is identified and the relevant data each ATC clearance is transcribed. A dependency table is generated for the user aircraft with the relevant data from every other aircraft. The dependency table identifies each relevant clearance that must be completed by all other aircraft before the user aircraft executes a conditional ATC clearance. The status of all relevant dependent ATC clearances is monitored and the user aircraft is informed of its conditional ATC clearance upon completion of the relevant dependent ATC clearances.

Abstract: A system for presenting broadcasted aeronautical information in an aircraft is provided. The system is configured to: capture a broadcasted aeronautical information message; parse the broadcasted message into a plurality of message components; extract a plurality of message features from the plurality of message components; categorize each message feature based on a flight phase to which the message feature pertains; group each categorized message feature into a predetermined one of a plurality of avionic subcategories; associate each subcategorized message feature with one of a plurality of context-based graphical elements, wherein each context-based graphical element is configured to display textual information descriptive of the message feature and/or graphical information descriptive of the message feature; and cause the display of descriptive information regarding a first category of the subcategorized message features via their associated context-based graphical element in a graphical user interface (GUI) display.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided determining airport operations based on radio communications, the method includes: configuring a receiver of an aircraft to scan communication channels of different radio frequencies related to transmissions between air traffic control (ATC) and a set of aircrafts to determine one or more communication channels associated with the set of aircrafts in a coverage area to enable the receiver to monitor and receive air traffic control (ATC) communications of the set of aircraft; and processing, by a conversation extractor unit, the ATC communications to extract clearance information in the ATC communications, and to associate the clearance information with an identifier with each aircraft to create a table of timings of the clearance information to a particular aircraft with the identifier providing a view of airport operations.

Abstract: An aircraft lighting system includes a light source and a processing system. The light source is rotationally mounted on an external surface of an aircraft to rotate at least 360-degrees about a rotational axis. The light source is configured, upon being electrically energized, to emit light. The processing system is in operable communication with the light source and is coupled to receive an anti-bird mode activation signal and one or more sensor signals representative of a position and flight path of birds. The processing system is configured, upon receipt of the anti-bird mode activation signal, to process the one or more sensor signals to determine the position and flight path of the birds, electrically energize the light source to emit light, and command the light source to rotate in one or more directions so that the emitted light is directed toward birds.
