摘要: A flat lamp is provided. The provided flat lamp includes an electrode unit generating an electric field in a discharge area between a front plate and a rear plate to generate a gas discharge, and spacers arranged between the front plate and the rear plate while having first portions contacting the inner surface of the front plate or the rear plate and second portions contacting the inner surface of the other plate. The second portions of the spacers extend at least two directions centering around the first portions. A fluorescent material layer is formed on any portion in a discharge area, for example, on the inner surface of the front plate or the inner surface of the rear plate. In the provided flat lamp, visible rays are generated from portions where the spacers are formed. Thus, when the spacers do not absorb nor block ultraviolet rays, the spacers transfer the ultraviolet rays to the fluorescent layer formed on the inner surface of the front plate. In other case, fluorescent layers are formed on the inner surfaces of the spacers that contact the inner spaces of the spacers of generating separate discharges in order to generate visible rays. Accordingly, partial deterioration of luminance and unevenness of luminance are prevented.

摘要: A driving apparatus for a plasma display panel with a pulse generator to supply an alternating pulse to an electrode, and an energy recovering unit to store charges from a discharge cell when the pulse voltage decreases or to output the stored charges to the discharge cell when the pulse voltage increases. The energy recovering unit has a magnetic switch, coupled with the discharge cell and an energy storage capacitor, with variable inductance to control transient time when the pulse transitions from a first voltage to a second voltage. The transient time is based on LC resonance of the magnetic switch inductance and panel capacitance, and can be reduced to improve resolution of the panel. Insulated gate bipolar transistors can be used with the magnetic switches to reduce power loss during switching and in the on-state, and can sustain high voltages necessary for high concentration Xe discharge gas.

摘要: A design for a plasma display panel (PDP). The novel PDP has two separate layers of fluorescent material. One layer of fluorescent material can generate long wavelength from VUV rays and the other fluorescent layer can convert either of VUV or long wavelength ultraviolet rays into visible rays. Such a PDP improves the luminance efficiency by more efficiently using the UV and VUV rays generated during plasma discharge.

摘要: A plasma display panel (PDP) that has an ultraviolet ray converter. The plasma display panel includes a front panel, a rear panel, a filter set, and an optical converter. The filter set is installed in front of the front panel. The optical converter is installed between the front panel and the filter set and converts ultraviolet rays emitted from the front panel into visible rays. Accordingly, the ultraviolet rays emitted from a plasma forming area in a discharge cell are mostly converted into visible rays. Therefore, the efficiency of the PDP is improved.
