Abstract:
The invention relates to reconstituted surfactants consisting of artificial phospholipids and peptides able to lower the air-liquid surface tension, more particularly to reconstituted surfactants comprising special phospholipid mixtures and artificial peptides which are analogues of the natural surfactant SP-C protein for the treatment of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) and other diseases relating to pulmonary surfactant dysfunctions.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method and an arrangement for stacking timber packages in layer that uses a transfer arrangement comprising mobile carrier planes. The carrier planes in turn form a direct continuation of an input transporter in order to receive layers fed from this transporter by being caused to lift from below a complete layer from the input transporter and displacing the layer in over the stacking table. After that, the carrier planes are withdrawn from the stacking table while the layer of timber is scraped off from the carrier plane or, the stacking table is arranged to move downwards. The transfer arrangement uses a first, a second and a third carrier plane which are arranged to move mutually in a cycle in such a manner that one pair of two consecutive carrier planes is located at the same time at a position above the stacking table.
Abstract:
A robust method of page indication (PI) detection improves the probability of detecting a transmitted PI under conditions that decrease the probability of accurate PI detection. The method includes choosing a standard value of a PI threshold against which to compare accumulated PI bits when the probability of correctly detecting the PI is high, and choosing a derived value of the PI threshold lower than the standard value when the probability of correctly detecting the PI is low. The derived PI threshold value determination includes a factor indicative of a desired probability of accurate PI detection.

The invention relates to a milling tool intended for chip-removing machining, comprising a basic body rotatable around a geometrical centre axis and a plurality of peripherically spaced-apart, detachable cutting inserts, which separately are securable in insert pockets adjacent to chip channels formed in the basic body, the individual cutting insert having at least one edge formed between a chip surface on the top side of the cutting insert and a clearance surface along the periphery side of the cutting insert, the tool geometry being markedly positive so far that the individual insert pocket is arranged to secure the individual cutting insert in a position in which the chip surface is inclined in relation to the centre axis while forming a positive angle of inclination. Characteristics of the invention is the combination that the angle of inclination between the chip surface and the centre axis is within the range of 25-28°, that the cutting edge cross section-wise has an arc-shape having a radius of curvature (ER) within the range of 5-20 μm, that the clearance surface of the cutting insert is formed with a clearance bevel, which extends from the cutting edge in the direction of the bottom side of the cutting insert and transforms into a main clearance portion, that the clearance angle (γ) of the clearance bevel is larger than 0°, but smaller than 3°, that the clearance angle (γ) of the main clearance portion is larger than the clearance angle (γ) of the clearance bevel, that the extension of the clearance bevel from the cutting edge to the main clearance portion is within the range of 0.05-0.30 mm, that the chip surface is formed with a reinforcement bevel, which extends from the cutting edge in the direction of the centre of the cutting insert and transforms into a main chip portion, the angle of inclination of the reinforcement bevel in relation to the centre axis being larger than −5°, but smaller than +5°, and that the extension of the reinforcement bevel from the cutting edge to the main chip portion is within range of 0.05-0.15 mm. The invention also separately relates to a milling insert as well as a solid milling tool.

Software executing on the computer: displays a requirements document; receives an indication of a selected portion of the requirements document; based at least in part upon the indication of the selected portion of the requirements document, retrieves from the database a list of possible storage locations corresponding to the selected portion of the requirements document; displays the list of possible storage locations corresponding to the selected portion of the requirements document; receives an indication of a selected storage location; receives an indication of data selected in the requirements document to be stored in the selected storage location; and stores the selected data in the selected storage location in the processed specification.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to pulmonary surfactants comprising additives for improving their surface tension lowering properties, and to the use of additives for improving the properties of modified natural surfactants or reconstituted/artificial surfactants. More particularly this invention is directed to the use of polymyxins for increasing the resistance to inactivation of modified natural surfactants or reconstituted/artificial surfactants and/or increasing their activity.

The methods of the instant invention provide safe and effective doses of an Apolipoprotein A-I Milano: phospholipid complex to reduce and stabilize atherosclerotic plaque. Pharmaceutical formulations of the Apo A-I Milano:phospholipid complexes are also provided.
Abstract:
A novel way of locking and unlocking an adjustment device for an artificial leg or arm makes it possible to perform an adjustment of the prosthesis, without necessitating disassembly of the prosthesis or the removal of the prosthesis from the patient. This facilitates the work in adjusting the translatory position and the angular position, and the adjustment device also offers a further degree of freedom by the addition of the possibility of distal adjustment. The novel combination provides a locking ring (40) on the adjustment head. The locking ring offers a stable, adjustable locking of the adjustment head against a coupling sleeve (50) on the stump, while at the same time fixing the translatory position of the prosthesis. The prosthesis is then provided with a stable, adjustable setting of the distal length of the prosthesis by means of the locking ring (40), which greatly facilitates fine adjustment of the length of the prosthesis, since there is no need to disassemble the prosthesis for performing such a distal length adjustment. The angular adjustment is carried out by means of a pyramid adapter pin (23) which is arranged either in the upper, or in the lower part of the adjustment head. Inclined adjustment screws corresponding to the inclined sides of the pyramid adapter pin are arranged in the corresponding upper or lower part of the adjustment head. The arrangement allows a simple way of disassembling the adjustment head in two parts.
Abstract:
A power controller for supplying separately a regulated power source to a plurality of "S" lines and for monitoring line-status conditions on the "S" lines so that each "S" line is controlled independently includes an analog section for delivering power independently to each of the "S" lines and for detecting line-status conditions on the "S" lines. The power controller also includes a microprocessor interface section for communicating with the microprocessor and for controlling the analog section. The analog section is formed of a plurality of output drivers for supplying individually the power to the plurality of "S" lines and line-status detector circuits for sensing line-status conditions on the "S" lines to provide a set of status logic signals for each "S" line. The microprocessor interface section includes an address register for storing a plurality of addresses corresponding to the line-status conditions to be monitored on the "S" lines. Decoder/multiplexers are provided for selecting a particular one of the line-status conditions in response to the addresses so that the same line-status condition for all "S" lines is readable simultaneously by the microprocessor. A data register receives control signals from the microprocessor upon reading of the line status conditions so as to switch off independently each of the output drivers to control power to the "S" lines.
