Abstract:
A method for sending a message containing a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to a customer. The method includes recording in a customer's telephone system a destination address of the communications terminal, selecting at least one URL to be sent to the communications terminal during a telephone call, obtaining the destination address, generating a message containing the URLs, and sending the message from a telephone system of the merchant or sender to the destination address of the customer's communications terminal. The message may also contain additional items, including for example, electronic coupons, an on-line trial subscription, a user ID, a user password, advertisements, sender information, or combinations thereof, wherein the user ID and user password are required by the Website having the address of the URLs. The method may further include recording the at least one URL into the bookmark section of the browser in the communications terminal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for selecting a desktop from a plurality of desktops for use upon turning on a computer system are provided. When the computer system is turned on, it is first determined whether there is more than one desktop available in the computer system. If so, the computer system determines whether a network address is associated with some or all of the available desktops by comparing its network address with the network addresses that are associated with the available desktops. If the computer system finds a network address that is the same as its own network address, the computer system then uses the desktop associated with the stored network address.
Abstract:
A method of enabling a user to manage items such as text, graphics image, audio clips, video clips etc. on a clipboard are provided. The method includes displaying a window having at least one option for managing the items on the clipboard and allowing the user to assert the option to manage the items. In another embodiment, a method is provided to indicate a selected item at a location in a document displayed in a graphical user interface with a scrollbar. The method includes selecting the item, determining whether the item is a file, and displaying, if the item is a file, an icon representing the file in the scrollbar at a location corresponding to the location of the highlighted item.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for filtering and prioritizing instant messaging threaded conversations in an instant messaging system based on thread content. The instant messaging client analyzes an incoming message to determine the thread subject. Based on the thread subject analysis, the client determines the priority level associated with the incoming message. The message is then delivered and displayed to the recipient according to the priority level. The present invention also allows a participant initiating a thread of conversation to override filter settings on a messaging client. The authority to override settings may be predicated on an external list, such as a corporate telephone directory. As a result, the participant, having some authority or rights to override the recipient's instant messaging settings, may be allowed to conduct a messaging session with the recipient.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system and method of importing data arranged in a table on an electronic whiteboard into a spreadsheet displayed in a computer system are provided. Generally, the spreadsheet and the table each include a plurality of grid cells. To determine where in the spreadsheet to display the data in the table, the location of the cursor in the spreadsheet is first established. This grid cell is used as a reference point. That is, data in the left-most/top-most grid cell on the table is displayed in the grid cell of the spreadsheet in which the cursor is located.
Abstract:
A system and method for managing a device profile in a communications device based on a computer application environment wherein the device profile is indicative of a computer application environment. A computer software agent inspects application program attributes of at least one running application on the user's computer. The device profile is managed responsive to said inspection. A notification system notifies a party attempting to contact the user's communication device with an indication corresponding to termination of communication. The notification system informs the user regarding details of attempted communications occurring while the at least one application was running, such as time of communications, identity and communication information of communicators, whether disabled communicator left a message, and the like.
Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product is disclosed that enables a user to customize selection elements of a GUI. For example, menu entries in a GUI can be customized so that the user can specify the font, the language, character sets, color, and other attributes of the text of one menu item (or less than all menu items); to have the ability to selectively activate multimedia options associated with selected menu items (e.g., to play a sound whenever the cursor/pointer passes over a particular menu item); and/or to assign an animation sequence that is unique to selected menu items. The menu item properties are defined by the user, using, for example, a dialog box that allows specification of the attributes. When the application is installed, a default set of menu item properties is defined by the software manufacturer, which can be further customized by the user.
Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product for selectively displaying alternative language representations of text rendered by an application executing on a computer system.
Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product for allowing a translator to dynamically change the static text displayed by an application to an alternative language.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and media for determining the location of a stylus for a portable electronic device are disclosed. One embodiment provides a method for determining at a first time that a stylus was not returned to a stylus receiver of the portable electronic device and determining last usage information relating to a last usage of the stylus at a second, earlier time. The method may further include storing by the portable electronic device the determined last usage information and determining stylus location information based on the last usage information. The method may further include providing an indication of the stylus location information to a user. Stylus location information may include one or more of a physical location, a geographic location, a calendar event associated with a last usage, directions to a place of last usage, an application being used at last usage of the stylus, or a user identity.
