摘要: A method of improving the security of a QKD system is disclosed. The method includes randomly modulating the modulator in a QKD station both within the gating interval and outside of the gating interval, while recording those modulations made during the gating interval. Such continuous modulation prevents an eavesdropper from assuming that the modulations correspond directly to the modulation of a qubit. Thus, an eavesdropper (Eve) has the additional and daunting task of determining which modulations correspond to actual qubit modulations before she can begin to extract any information from detected modulation states of the modulator.

摘要: A method of detecting an intrusion into (or an anomaly in a behavior of) a target software system begins by instrumenting the target software system to generate behavior data representing a current observation or observation aggregate. The method then determines whether the current observation or observation aggregate warrants a second level examination; preferably, this determination is made by processing the current observation or observation aggregate through a first level detection algorithm that provides a first, provisional indication of a possible intrusion. If a result of executing the first level detection algorithm indicates that the current observation or observation aggregate warrants a second level examination, the method continues by processing the current observation or observation aggregate through at least one or more second level detection algorithms to provide a second, more definite, fine grain indication of a possible intrusion. The observation aggregates used by the first and second level detection algorithms may be the same or different. The first and second level detection algorithms may be executed in the same or different systems, machines or processors. The target software system operation may be suspended as the current observation or observation aggregate is processed through the one or more second level detection algorithms. A given action (e.g., sending an alert, logging the event, activating a countermeasure, or the like) may be taken if the result of the second level examination indicates a possible intrusion. Multiple algorithms may be executed together within a single examination level, with the individual results then analyzed to obtain a composite result or output indicative of intrusive or anomalous behavior.

摘要: A fuel delivery apparatus for an auxiliary vehicle heater includes a burner with a fuel nozzle. A fuel pump has an intake port and a discharge port. There is a first fuel conduit connected to the intake port. A second fuel conduit connects the discharge port to the nozzle. A third fuel conduit extends between the discharge port and the intake port. A pressure release relief valve is operatively disposed along the third conduit. Fuel from the discharge port is recirculated back to the intake port when pressure of fuel supplied to the nozzle through the second conduit exceeds a preset amount. Preferably the fuel nozzle is an air aspirated fuel nozzle and the fuel pump is a gear pump. The third conduit may be internal to the fuel pump.

摘要: A method and system for effecting pneumatically cushioned independent front steer axle suspension for s Class 8 (33,001 lb+GVW) highway truck. An air spring rocker is provided to improve the fit arrangement of the front suspension components. By its pivoting action, the air spring rocker serves to take the vertically-directed suspension load and redirect this load to compress a suspension air spring in a horizontal direction, against a chassis frame rail side member. The left hand side road wheel is enabled to articulate independently of the articulation movement of the right hand side road wheel, and vice versa.

摘要: An apparatus for connecting user equipment to a broadband network includes a chassis having attachment points for connection to a supporting surface and a guide that permits entry of a communication cable. A cable termination unit may be mounted on the chassis such that a cable that is led through the guide can be connected and provided with a termination to which functional connections can be made. A cover may be mounted on the chassis in such a way as to be removable and reattachable to allow access to the chassis. The chassis may include mounting points for connecting at least one functional module to the communication cable and for allowing different communication functions to be provided to user equipment that is connected to the network via the apparatus.

摘要: A communications device, such as a mobile telephone, fixed line telephone, computer with network access, or any other similar device which is equipped to communicate using network and/or telephony protocols, is provided, wherein before a call or other communications sessions is set up and made, a determination of the present time at the intended recipient of the call or session is made. In some embodiments, this determination of the time at the intended recipient's location is displayed to a user of the calling device to allow the user to decide whether to proceed with a call to the intended recipient. In other embodiments the determined time is compared with a set of one or more predetermined time bands during which calls to a recipient should not be made. Depending on the results of the comparison, the operation of the communications device is altered, for example, in one embodiment the call is not made, and the user preferably informed. In another embodiment, the user (caller) is advised that the call is being made at an inappropriate time for the intended recipient, and prompted to indicate whether the call should proceed. With such techniques, the problems noted above of unwanted calls being set up unnecessarily can be addressed.

摘要: A method of autocalibrating a quantum key distribution (QKD) system (200) is disclosed. The QKD system includes a laser ((202) that generates photon signals in response to a laser gating signal (S0) from a controller (248). The method includes first performing a laser gate scan (304) to establish the optimum arrival time (TMAX) of the laser gating signal corresponding to an optimum—e.g., a maximum number of photon counts (NMAX)—from a single-photon detector (SPD) unit (216) in the QKD system when exchanging photon signals between encoding stations (Alice and Bob) of the QKD system. Once the optimal laser gating signal arrival time (TMAX) is determined, the laser gate scan is terminated and a laser gate dither process (308) is initiated. The laser dither involves varying the arrival time (T) of the laser gating signal around the optimum value of the arrival time TMAX. The laser gate dither provides minor adjustments to the laser gating signal arrival time to ensure that the SPD unit produces an optimum (e.g., maximum) number of photon counts.
