    摘要: A recording apparatus for use with a reproduction-only optical information storage medium, including: a recording unit which records data on the reproduction-only optical information storage medium; and a controller which controls the recording unit to form, on the reproduction-only optical storage medium, a plurality of areas and at least one transition area. Each transition area is located between two adjacent areas. The transition area allows data to be smoothly reproduced from the reproduction-only optical information storage medium at a low error generation rate. Also, since the optical information storage medium provides standards for the transition area, it is compatible with existing optical information storage media.

The dedicated area for a special purpose may selectively be allocated in an outer circumferential area of the information storage medium, i.e., an optical disk including a plurality of recording layers. In particular, optical disks in various formats are provided in which dedicated areas for special purposes can selectively be allocated in outer circumferential areas of the optical disks depending on recording characteristics of the optical disks and the outer circumferential areas.

A computer readable medium includes: a user data area on which user data is recorded; and a temporary disc management area on which a space bitmap indicating a recording status of recording and reproducing unit blocks of the user data area is recorded. The space bitmap includes header information for distinguishing an additional space bitmap from the space bitmap. The additional space bitmap is assigned when a space provided for the space bitmap is insufficient to represent the recording status of the recording and reproducing unit blocks of the user data area.

    摘要: In a near-field optical recording/reproducing system and a method of controlling a tilt, the near-field optical recording/reproducing system includes: a light source; an objective lens to focus light emitted from the light source to transmit near-field light to an information storage medium; a PD (photodetector) to receive a portion of the light that is transmitted from the objective lens to the information storage medium and is reflected from the information storage medium, to detect a GES (gap error signal) used for controlling an air gap formed between the objective lens and the information storage medium; a signal processor/determiner to obtain an edge voltage using the GES detected by the PD and determine a tilt control point using the edge voltage; and an adjuster to control a relative tilt between the objective lens and the information storage medium in the tilt control position.
