    摘要: An electrical connector for electrically connecting an integrated circuit package to a circuit substrate includes a first and a second unit sections, and each unit section has a number of terminals received therein. Each unit section includes a mating surface, an opposed mounting surface, a fixing edge, and an engaging edge. The engaging edge of the first unit section has a protruding tongue, and the engaging edge of the second unit section defines a recessed portion for engaging the protruding tongue. An interlocking device is formed between the protruding tongue and the recessed portion, so that the protruding tongue is capable of overlapping and combined with the recessed portion via the interlocking device to make the first and the second unit sections become a unitary structure.

    摘要: An electrical connector assembly includes an electrical connector, a pick up cap (13) and at least one aligning key (14). The electrical connector has a base surrounded by spaced rigid walls (112) so as to form a receiving cavity (111) adapted to receive an IC package. The at least one aligning key is attached to the base, and has at least a part thereof configured to laterally invade the receiving cavity. The pick up cap is assembled onto the electrical connector, and has a receptacle (1321) defined thereon for receiving the at least one aligning key. Since the pick up cap forms the receptacle adapted for receiving the aligning keys, the pick up cap can be assembled onto the electrical connector, and securely held in position by the engagement of the receptacle of the pick up cap and the aligning key of the electrical connector.

    摘要: A pick up cap for an LGA connector, the connector has a housing which defines a multiplicity of passageways, a plurality of electrical contacts received in the passageways, a metal clip and a pick up cap. The clip defines a rectangular window in the middle thereof. Around the window there are two opposite sidepieces and two opposite urging sides. The pick up cap is detachably mounted on the clip. The pick up cap has a rectangular planar body which defines two opposite end portions and two opposite side portions. Each of the two side portions has a waist. When the pick up cap is mounted on the clip, two end portions engage with two opposite sidepieces, two opposite sidepieces and two opposite end portions cooperatively define two rifts therebetween.

    摘要: An LGA connector assembly (1) includes an LGA connector (2) and a generally rectangular pick up cap (3). The connector has a metal clip (25, 25′) having a pair of arcuate lateral sides (256). The pick up cap has a plane top surface (300) and a bottom surface (301). A pair of supporting members (309, 300′) is formed at opposite lateral sides of the pick up cap respectively, each supporting member depending from the bottom surface. When the pick up cap is engagingly mounted on a top portion of the connector, the supporting members are tightly attached on the lateral sides of the clip to support the pick up cap. A vacuum suction device can reliably engage the top surface of the pick up cap without causing damage to the pick up cap. The LGA connector assembly can thus be safely moved to a desired location on a PCB.

    摘要: An electrical connector assembly (1) includes an LGA connector (2) and a pick up cap (3) mounted onto the connector. The connector defines a number of cells (26) for receiving a corresponding number of contacts (22). The pick up cap has a planar body (31) forming a plane top surface (300), which can be sucked by a vacuum suction device to move the connector assembly to a desired location on a PCB, and a bottom surface (301) opposite to the top surface. Several elongate passages (34) are defined in and through the planar body. Each passage extends aslant from the top surface to the bottom surface thereby preventing the contacts from dust. When curing adhesive film at high temperature, heated air can flow quickly through the passages and the cells to a bottom portion of the connector and reliable electrical connection between the contacts and the PCB are subsequently produced.

The base includes two solid cylindrical fixing posts (231) at two diagonally opposite corners thereof. Each fixing post includes a fixing portion (2312) at a top thereof. The frame defines two fixing holes (32), corresponding to the fixing posts. Each fixing hole is surrounded by a step (321) thereat. When the base and the frame are assembled together, the fixing posts are deformably received through the fixing holes, and the fixing portions hook on the steps. Thus the frame and the base are combined together firmly. Because the fixing posts are solid and generally cylindrical, during assembly, the fixing posts can fasten the frame on the base firmly and securely with minimal risk of breakage.
