Abstract: A first glass substrate, a die including a penetrating space, a seat member, and a punching member are set so as to be arranged in this order. Subsequently, the seat member is punched by the punching member to remove part from the seat member through the penetrating space of the die. The part removed, is placed on the first glass substrate by the punching member so as to allow the part to serve as at least one spacer. Thereafter, the second glass substrate is placed on the first glass substrate with the at least one spacer in-between to form a glass panel unit.

Abstract: The objective is to propose a production method of multiple panes which can be simple and nevertheless produce a multiple pane in its finished state which does not include any undesired protrusion from an external surface of a glass panel. A method for manufacturing the multi-layer laminate includes a step. The step includes exhausting a gas from a bag, loaded with the glass panel unit, the intermediate film, and the transparent plate, to cause the bag to shrink and thereby assembling, using the bag thus shrunk, the glass panel unit and the transparent plate via the intermediate film. The step includes raising a pressure inside the bag from a pressure at an initial stage of heating while increasing a temperature of the intermediate film to a predetermined temperature at which the intermediate film softens.

Abstract: Provided are a glass panel unit and a method for manufacturing the glass panel unit, both of which are designed to overcome the problem of poor handleability of known glass panel units with no through holes. The seal has a frame shape and hermetically bonds respective peripheral edge portions of the first panel and the second panel. The boundary wall partitions an internal space into a first space as a hermetically sealed evacuated space and a second space spatially separated from the first space. The second panel has a second through hole provided through a portion, corresponding to the second space and facing the first through hole, of the second panel.

The evacuation step includes reducing pressure in an internal space. The sealing step includes creating a hermetically sealed evacuated space by closing an exhaust port.
