Abstract:
A CPU is designed so as to put a demagnetizing circuit in an operative state in accordance with a result of detecting, among other quantities or events, the number of operations to turn on a power counted by a counter, the lapse of time under a predetermined condition measured by a timer since the pulling-out of an AC plug, the movement of the main body of a display device sensed by a sensor unit, an external magnetic field sensed by a sensor unit or a residual magnetism in a CRT itself sensed by a sensor unit. Instead of carrying out demagnetization each time the power is turned on, demagnetization is performed only under certain conditions when necessary, diminishing the problem of wasteful power consumption. On the top of that, the number of cases in which sound and picture vibration are generated due to a demagnetizing operation carried out right after the turning-on of the power is reduced, resulting in a product easy to handle by the user. In addition, the lives of components composing a demagnetizing circuit such as a positive thermistor can be prolonged.
Abstract:
An information terminal apparatus capable of ensuring enhanced operational facility and realizing easier maintenance of software required for a variety of services. The terminal apparatus includes an external information input port for receiving external software transmitted thereto by radio waves; a first memory for storing the software received by the external information input port; a first controller operated in accordance with the execution of the software stored in the first memory; a console for inputting predetermined data in conformity with the execution of the software; and a display for visually representing various kinds of information in conformity with the execution of the software. The software is obtained via a cable box for transferring a signal to or from the information terminal unit. The cable box includes an interface for transferring information to and from a host processor; a second memory for storing the software transmitted thereto from the host processor; and a second controller for controlling the signal transfer to or from the interface, the second memory and the information terminal unit.
Abstract:
A mobile settings control device (MSCD) presents a user interface (UI) enabling a user to establish display settings for a display associated with an audio video display device (AVDD) with which the MSCD communicates. Before and after adjustment screen shots may be presented full screen and toggled between on either the AVDD or MSCD, or split screens of before and after adjustment screen shots can be presented side by side on the AVDD or MSCD.

Abstract:
Three dimensional AVDD display technology can be used to display user interfaces or elements of user interfaces and can be used in cooperation with one or plural cameras to enable a viewer of the AVDD to “touch” a user interface or part of a user interface presented in three dimensional space.
Abstract:
A contract manufacturer (CM) makes a consumer electronics (CE) device under the auspices of a brand name manufacturer (BNM) associated with the CE device, paying royalties immediately on licensable components in the CE device that are activated for sale and not paying royalties on licensable components in the CE device that are deactivated for sale. Should a purchaser subsequently activate an originally deactivated licensable component, the CM receives this information and pays royalties accordingly on the now-activated licensable component.
Abstract:
An interceptor detects command signals from a TV remote control and logs the signals. The signals can be correlated not just to channel number but also to programs by accessing a program/channel database. A log of channels/programs that have been viewed by, e.g., a child can thus be obtained and viewed by a parent.
Abstract:
A system for automatically setting a power saving mode according to a location of a device, such as a TV. The system includes an interface, e.g. GPS receiver, terrestrial broadcast receiver, network interface, etc. for coupling the device to one or more external devices; a processor; programming executable on said processor for performing the following steps: determining the location of the device via communication with the one or more external devices; establishing a power consumption mode according to the determined location of the device and one or more power consumption regulatory requirements associated with said device location; and adjusting a function of the device to modify the power consumption of the device according to said power consumption mode.
Abstract:
Instead of buying blanket licenses for all licensable components of its CE devices, a manufacturer enables users to activate licensable components on a device basis and then obtains the necessary licenses individually. Seldom used activation modes and seldom activated licensable components can be pruned from future devices, while widely activated licensable components can be automatically enabled by purchasing a blanket license for those components. Characteristics of license requests and the people making them can be used to focus marketing.
Abstract:
The present embodiments provide methods, processes and systems for use in determining navigation. Some embodiments provide methods that receive a communication at a mobile navigation system from an external device, determine whether the communication comprises navigation information, extract the navigation information when the communication comprises navigation information, identify a navigation location based on the navigation information, retrieve a current location, and generate navigation instructions between the current location and the navigation location.
