    Abstract: The present technology relates to an information processing apparatus and an information processing method enabling a vehicle to readily pass an oncoming vehicle in a narrow road or the like. The information processing apparatus includes a map generating section generating map data associated with a circumference of a vehicle, and updating the map data in conformity with a movement of the vehicle, and a waiting space detecting section detecting a waiting space enabling the vehicle to wait on the basis of the map data, and generating waiting space information as information associated with the detected waiting space and used in setting of an escaping route on which the vehicle is escaped in order to pass an oncoming vehicle. The present technology, for example, can be applied to a vehicle controlling system which performs control of automatic driving.

    Abstract: A stereo image capturing device captures a stereo image with a measurement target range in front of a vehicle as an angle of field, and a display device is disposed so as to cover at least part of the measurement target range as seen from the viewpoint position of a driver inside the vehicle. Then a distance measuring section measures the distances to another object in the measurement target range using the stereo image and identifies the object within a predetermined distance as an obstacle, and an image generating section generates a virtual mirror image that allows at least the vehicle and the obstacle to be seen using a reflection by a mirror in a case where the mirror is assumed to be virtually disposed above a location at which the obstacle is seen from the viewpoint position of the driver in the vehicle, and causes the display device to display the virtual mirror image. The present technology can be applied, for example, to in-vehicle image display systems.

    Abstract: A configuration is achieved that calculates an object distance on the basis of a captured image of a camera that captures an image in a direction that is orthogonal to a movement direction of a movement device or in a direction having an orthogonal component. A data processing unit detects a point at infinity from a captured image of a camera that captures an image in a direction that is orthogonal to a movement direction of a movement device or in a direction having an orthogonal component, and calculates an object distance by using information relating to a positional relationship between a position of the detected point at infinity and a position of an object in the captured image. The data processing unit detects, from the captured image, a plurality of parallel lines on a real world that extends in a direction away from a camera position, and determines an intersection point on extended lines of the detected plurality of parallel lines to be the point at infinity. Alternatively, an intersection point on respective extended lines of the straight lines in an image frame unit is determined to be the point at infinity, directions of the straight lines changing on the captured image in accordance with a movement of the camera.

    Abstract: Provided is an information processing apparatus including: a detection unit configured to detect a corneal reflection image corresponding to light from a light source reflected at a cornea from a captured image in which an eye irradiated with the light from the light source is imaged. The detection unit estimates a position of a center of an eyeball on the basis of a plurality of time-series captured images each of which is the captured image according to the above, estimates a position of a center of the cornea on the basis of the estimated position of the center of the eyeball, estimates a position of a candidate for the corneal reflection image on the basis of the estimated position of the center of the cornea, and detects the corneal reflection image from the captured image on the basis of the estimated position of the candidate for the corneal reflection image.
