Abstract:
A wireless power transmitter, a wireless power receiver, and methods of controlling the same are provided. A method of detecting a rogue device other than a wireless power receiver in the wireless power transmitter includes receiving power consumption information about the wireless power receiver from the wireless power receiver, calculating a power loss based on the received power consumption information about the wireless power receiver, determining whether the power loss exceeds a threshold, and controlling transmission power of the wireless power transmitter, determining that a rogue device exists on the wireless power transmitter, if the power loss exceeds the threshold.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for controlling power transmission in a power transmitter against overvoltage at a power receiver. The power transmitter receives a subscription request to subscribe to a wireless power network, from the power receiver. It is determined whether power transmission is available for the power receiver. The power receiver is informed that the power transmission is beginning, when the power transmission is available. The transmission power is increased and transmitted. It is determined whether a stop request to stop increasing voltage is received at the power transmitter from the power receiver. The increase of the transmission power is stopped when the stop request is received at the power transmitter. Charging of the power receiver is started by transmitting a start charging command from the power transmitter to the power receiver.

A wireless multi-charging method of a power transmitter that wirelessly transmits power includes sensing a first power receiver, increasing a transmission power required for charging the first power receiver, sensing a second power receiver, decreasing the transmission power required for suspending charging of the first power receiver, and increasing the transmission power required for simultaneously charging both the first power receiver and the second power receiver.
Abstract:
A wireless power receiver is for receiving power from a wireless power transmitter, the wireless power receiver may include at least one of: resonant circuitry; communication circuitry; and a controller configured to at least one of: enable a charging function to receive, through the resonant circuitry from the wireless power transmitter, first power for charging the wireless power receive, transmit, through the communication circuitry, a first signal indicating complete charge to the wireless power receiver while receiving the first power, receive, through the communication circuitry, a first charging function control signal that disables a charging function from the wireless power transmitter, based on the receiving of the first charging function control signal, disable the charging function, after disabling the charging function, identify that charging is required, transmit, through the communication circuitry, a second signal including information which is, by the wireless power receiver, set based on identifying that the charging is required to the wireless power transmitter, receive, through the communication circuitry, a second charging function control signal, and based on the receiving of the second charging function control signal, enable the charging function without outputting the indication related to the charging.
Abstract:
Provided is a method of a wireless power transmitter, including transmitting a detection power, detecting a variation of a load impedance, the variation being greater than a predetermined value, receiving a first signal including an identifier and a load characteristic of the wireless power receiver, the load characteristic including load information indicating the variation of the load impedance, transmitting a first response to form a communication connection with a wireless power receiver in response to the first signal, receiving a second signal including required power information of the wireless power receiver, determining whether power is available to the wireless power receiver based on the required power information, and transmitting a second response including permission information indicating a standby mode or a charging mode based on a result of the determining.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for operating a wireless power transmitter. The method includes controlling the wireless power transmitter to wirelessly transmit power for charging a first power receiver, and while transmitting the power, receiving a search signal from a second power receiver, transmitting a search response signal corresponding to the search signal, and receiving, from the second power receiver, a request join signal including at least one piece of information associated with a power requirement of the second power receiver. Based on identifying that the wireless power transmitter is capable of providing the power having an amount greater than the power requirement of the second power receiver, the method further includes transmitting a charge start command to the second power receiver.
Abstract:
A method for controlling a wireless power receiver including a charging unit and a wireless power receiver are provided. The method includes receiving wireless power; rectifying the received wireless power and outputting Direct Current (DC) wireless power; and determining whether a voltage of the rectified wireless power is equal to or higher than an allowable voltage of the charging unit.
Abstract:
A method for controlling a wireless power transmitter for charging a wireless power receiver may comprise the operations of: transmitting power for charging; receiving a first PRU dynamic signal indicating completion of charging, from the wireless power receiver, applying a beacon for detecting the wireless power receiver on the basis of a load change to a resonance circuit of the wireless power transmitter; receiving, from the wireless power receiver, a first advertisement signal including information indicating that charging is not requested; and ignoring the advertisement signal and maintaining application of the beacon.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for determining, by a wireless power transmitter, whether a wireless power receiver is removed from a wireless power network managed by the wireless power transmitter. The method includes transmitting a command signal to report power information of the wireless power receiver at stated periods; determining whether a report signal corresponding to the command signal is received from the wireless power receiver; and determining that the wireless power receiver is removed from the wireless power network, if the report signal is not received after transmitting the command signal a predetermined number of times at the stated periods.
