A control method of a wireless power receiving unit receiving charging power from a wireless power transmitting unit to perform wireless charging is provided. The control method includes receiving the charging power from the wireless power transmitting unit; detecting a change in a wireless charging environment; generating a signal indicating detection of the change in the wireless charging environment; and transmitting the signal indicating the detection of the change in the wireless charging environment to the wireless power transmitting unit.

A method and apparatus are provided for transmitting wireless power to a wireless power receiver. The method includes detecting wireless power receiver within a service area of a wireless power transmitter; transmitting driving power for driving the wireless power receiver; joining the wireless power receiver in a wireless power network managed by the wireless power transmitter; and transmitting charging power to the wireless power receiver.

A method for controlling an abnormal state of a wireless Power Receiving Unit (PRU) is provided. The method includes measuring a temperature by a period shorter than a previous measurement period when a temperature measured by the wireless PRU in response to a transmission of power from a wireless Power Transmitting Unit (PTU) is higher than a temperature required to be monitored; determining whether the measured temperature is higher than a temperature at which a load switch connected to a charging unit is turned off if the measured temperature is equal to or higher than the temperature required to be monitored; and turning off the load switch if the measured temperature is higher than the temperature at which the load switch is turned off.

A method and apparatus are provided for controlling power transmission in a power transmitter. The method includes receiving power information that includes a minimum voltage and a maximum voltage receivable at a power receiver; determining a reference voltage for dividing a range between the minimum voltage and the maximum voltage into a predetermined portions; dividing the range between the minimum voltage and the maximum voltage into a first voltage range between the minimum voltage and the reference voltage and a second voltage range between the reference voltage and the maximum voltage; receiving from the power receiver a report about a power reception condition including a measured voltage at the power receiver during the power transmission from the power transmitter; and adjusting and supplying the power according to which voltage range the measured voltage belongs to among the divided voltage ranges.

Provided is a portable communication device which transmits manufacturer information and capability information to a wireless power transmitter, the manufacturer information being indicative of a manufacturer of the portable communication device and the capability information being indicative of a charging function of the portable communication device, receives a response from the wireless power transmitter including one or more characteristics with respect to the charging function allowed for the portable communication device, the one or more characteristics being determined by the wireless power transmitter based at least in part on the manufacturer information and the capability information received from the portable communication device, transmits a request for updating at least one of the one or more characteristics with respect to the charging function, and performs the charging function to charge the battery using power received from the wireless power transmitter and determined based on the at least one updated characteristic.

The method includes transmitting detection power towards a power receiving apparatus, detecting an impedance change made by the power receiving apparatus, transmitting driving power for communication with the power receiving apparatus towards the power receiving apparatus, receiving a search signal from the power receiving apparatus within a preset time, and determining whether the impedance change is within a first acceptable range based on the received search signal.

The wireless power transmitting device may comprise an antenna, a memory, and a processor configured to control to store, as reference information, information of a first reflected signal of a pilot signal sent out through the antenna at a first time in the memory and control to compare the reference information with information about second reflected signals of a pilot signal sent out through the antenna at a second time, and determine a position of a target for detection based on a result of the comparison.

The control method includes wirelessly receiving a first power from a wireless power transmitter; based on the received first power, loading a first communication stack from a memory stored in a communication module of the wireless power receiver; establishing a communication connection with the wireless power transmitter based on the first communication stack; wirelessly receiving a second power from the wireless power transmitter; based on residual capacity of a battery of the wireless power receiver exceeding a minimum power threshold according to the received second power, determining to re-initialize the communication connection with the wireless power transmitter; transmitting a message including a time period required to complete at least one procedure for re-initializing the communication connection with the wireless power transmitter; and wirelessly receiving the second power from the wireless power transmitter while re-initializing the communication connection with the wireless power transmitter.
