摘要: A cathode-ray tube that has an electron gun including a final-stage main lens made up of a last accelerating electrode and a focusing electrode and having a focus action stronger in horizontal direction than in vertical direction, an electron lens of a first kind formed between the divided focus electrodes and having a focus action stronger in the vertical direction than the horizontal direction to vary the cross sectional shape of an electron beam with an increase of the deflection amount, an electron lens of a second kind formed between the divided focus electrodes for weakening the lens strength with an increase of the deflection amount of an electron beam, and an electron lens of a third kind made up of at least one electrode constituting a three electrode section and having a focus action stronger in the horizontal direction than in the vertical direction. The dynamic focus voltage which decreases with an increasing deflection amount is reduced. The horizontal diameter of an electron beam spot is reduced on the central area of the screen.

摘要: A self-chargeable timepiece includes a pair of small and large capacitors having respective small and large capacities and selectively disconnectably connected at their respective terminals to time-keeping circuitry and a solar cell. The pair of small and large capacitors cooperate with each other during the momentary operation of the solar cell for selectively receiving and storing the electric charge to develop respective terminal voltages across their respective terminals even after the momentary operation of the solar cell. A detector periodically detects the terminal voltages of the small and large capacitors during the time-keeping operation. A switching circuit responds to the detected terminal voltages for selectively connecting and disconnecting the small and large capacitors to and from the time-keeping circuitry to enable the small and large capacitors to selectively power the time-keeping circuitry. A regulating circuit operates when the time-keeping circuitry is powered by the small capacitor for regulating the detector to effect the periodical detection of the terminal voltages at relatively short time intervals and operates when the time-keeping circuit is powered by the large capacitor for regulating the detector to effect the periodical detection of the terminal voltages at relatively long time intervals.

摘要: A liquid crystal display including a pair of substrates; a plurality of electrodes formed in a matrix on one of the pair of substrates, wherein each of the plurality of electrodes includes a plurality of stripe-like portions that define a plurality of spaces therebetween; polymer material and liquid crystal between the pair of substrates; and polymer alignment films which are formed on each of the substrates and are affected by light irradiation and cause alignment of the liquid crystal in predetermined directions. The plurality of stripe-like portions extend in at least two different directions which are not parallel to each other.

The first electrode includes a first stem extending in the first direction, and branches extending on both sides of the first stem, branches on one side of the first stem extending in a first extending direction, whereas branches on the other side of the first stem extending in a second extending direction, the first and second extending directions being line-asymmetrical about the first stem.
