The present invention is provided a method of signalling a sub-frame allocation pattern to apparatus (e.g. UE) adapted to receive wirelessly and extract data from a radio signal (e.g. a signal carrying MBMS channels) comprising a series of radio frames, each radio frame comprising a plurality of sub-frames for carrying data, the sub-frame allocation pattern indicating the position of at least each sub-frame, in the series of radio frames, allocated to carry data of one respective data channel (e.g. one MCH) of a plurality of data channels. The method comprises providing the apparatus with an indication of a set of sub-frames (e.g. a common sub-frame pool), in the series of radio frames, reserved for carrying data of said plurality of data channels (e.g. the MCHs), and providing the apparatus with an indication of a at least one sub-set (e.g. a sub-set of the common pool allocated to a particular MCH) of the set of sub-frames allocated to carry data of a respective one of said data channels.

Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for reordering received packets in a mobile telecommunication system supporting HARQ so that the problem of order change is solved. The method includes receiving from a receiving-side HARQ entity an input of a packet and processing time spent by the packet going through an HARQ operation; determining if a gap corresponding to at least one missing packet among received packets is detected based on the input packet belonging to the received packets and, when the gap is detected, waiting for the missing packet belonging to the gap to be received for a period of time obtained by subtracting the processing time from a predetermined maximum waiting value; and outputting the received packets to an upper layer in an order when the missing packet belonging to the gap fails to be received before the expiration of the period of time.

The UE has a Discontinuous Reception (DRX) mode for discontinuously receiving data and a continuous reception mode for continuously receiving data. The mobile communication system also has a serving cell where the UE is located, and a neighboring cell located near the serving cell. Signal strength of the serving cell is measured according to a period of the DRX mode. The signal strength measurement is continuously performed on the serving cell and the neighboring cell, if the measured signal strength of the serving cell is less than or equal to a particular threshold. The continuous signal strength measurement is stopped and signal strength of the serving cell is measured according to the period of the DRX mode, if the continuously measured signal strength of the serving cell is greater than the particular threshold.

If the transmission of the status report is permitted, the ARQ Rx entity generates a status report depending on a reception status of ARQ packets received up to the time the transmission of the status report is permitted, and transmits the generated status report to an ARQ transmitting (Tx) entity through an allocated transmission resource. The ARQ Tx entity determines an initial reception time of an HARQ packet including the status report as a generation time of the status report, and performs retransmission according to the status report.

A method and apparatus for controlling measuring the frequency of a new cell within a forbidden registration area when a User Equipment (UE) enters into the new cell in a mobile communication system are provided. If the UE recognizes the new registration area as forbidden, the UE does not measure the frequency of the current cell for a predetermined reference time, and searches for a suitable cell for a normal service by measuring other frequencies. If no suitable cell in the other frequencies is found, the UE removes a measuring limitation and searches for an acceptable cell for a limited service by measuring frequencies including frequency of the current cell.
