摘要： An indication display unit for a vehicle comprises an indicating device provided in a dash board and a reflecting device provided thereon. An indicated image is reflected on the reflecting device so as to be visibly observed by a driver in superposition on an external front view through a windshield. A shifting device of the indicated image is provided for moving a projecting position thereof in accordance with the velocity of a vehicle. The indication display unit of the above structure can be divided in two types; a direct image projecting type and an indirect projecting type. The respective type can be defined as the indication display unit provided with an indicated image shifting device. By using the above display unit, the position of the displayed image to be observed can be shifted in accordance with the vehicle speed, whereby the visibly observable range by a driver can be greatly enlarged without moving the position of the driver's viewing point.

摘要： A display includes a case and a display source received in the case, and allows a virtual image of an image displayed on the display source projected on a windshield of a vehicle through an opening of the case to be superimposed on a foreground image through the windshield which is visually recognized at an eye point of the vehicle. A cover for the display is configured to prevent foreign particles from entering an inside of the case through the opening, and allows the image projected from the display source to pass therethrough. The cover has substantially a wedge cross section so as to align a substantially straight light path of direct light from an arbitrary point on the display source through the cover without reflection with a reflected light path of reflected light from the arbitrary point and reflected twice on inner surfaces of the cover.

摘要： A head-up display device includes a display unit for displaying information, a reflector rotatably supported by frame members fixed to a vehicle, and an adjuster for adjusting a rotational position of the reflector by a gearing system. The information displayed on the display unit is reflected by the reflector to a projection area on a vehicle windshield. The adjuster so adjusts the rotational position to allow a vehicle driver to see both a front view through the windshield and a superimposed reflected image of the information. The head-up display device further includes a regulator to allow the reflector to rotate in a rotational direction within a range where the reflector is adjustable by the adjuster, and to prevent the reflector from shifting in a direction other than the rotational direction.

The display source unit 9, which irradiates a light of a display image containing instrument information on a combiner 7 situated in front of an eye point I so that the irradiated light can be seen as a virtual image S from the eye point I, is provided with a cover member 13 consisting of: a front cover body 15 putting an optical element 21 for image magnification thereonto; and a rear cover body 17 hinged to the front cover body 15 with receiving a display device 23 therein. The cover member 13 is folded, thereby the light of the display image displayed on a display surface 23a of the display device 23 is reflected on a reflector 25 disposed in the cover member 13 to the optical element 21, passes through the optical element 21, and goes toward the eye point I after being reflected by the combiner 7.

The amount of travel of the virtual images (51V) of the guide light when the reflector provided in the head-up display device rotates is smaller than the amount of travel of the virtual image (20V) of the display information. Therefore, even if the virtual image (20V) of the display information falls outside the projection area, the virtual images (51V) of the guide light remain in the projection area, and are displayed.

By using the windshield, the projection area can be formed into the windshield without an extra deformation.
