摘要： According to one embodiment, an active material for a battery includes a titanium composite oxide. The titanium composite oxide contains a monoclinic β-type titanium composite oxide as its main phase and has a ratio (A2/A1) which is 0.4 or less, where A1 is an area intensity of a first peak existing in a frequency range of 105 cm−1 to 133 cm−1 and A2 is an area intensity of a second peak existing in a frequency range of 134 cm−1 to 154 cm−1 on a Raman spectrum measured using an argon laser having a wavelength of 514.5 nm.

摘要： According to one embodiment, a non-aqueous electrolyte battery includes an outer case, a positive electrode housed in the outer case and containing a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode housed in the outer case and containing a monoclinic crystal β-type titanium composite oxide, and a non-aqueous electrolyte filled in the outer case. An absolute value of a gradient of a potential of the negative electrode is larger than that of the positive electrode. Wherein, each of the gradients of a potential of the negative and positive electrodes is found from variations in potential which come at the state of full charge on an open-circuit potential curve drawn from potentials of the positive electrode and the negative electrode.

摘要： According to one embodiment, a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a nonaqueous electrolytic solution, a positive electrode and a negative electrode is provided. The nonaqueous electrolytic solution comprises a nonaqueous solvent. The nonaqueous solvent comprises from 50 to 95% by volume of a sulfone-based compound represented by the following formula 1: wherein R1 and R2 are each an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and satisfy R1≠R2. The positive electrode comprises a composite oxide represented by Li1-xMn1.5-yNi0.5-zMy+zO4. The negative electrode comprises a negative electrode active material being capable of absorbing and releasing lithium at 1 V or more based on a metallic lithium potential.
