    摘要: A scroll compressor has an eccentric pin that extends forwardly of a rotating shaft. The eccentric pin generally has a curved outer portion and a flat outer portion. Each of the flat and curved outer portions have fillets that are formed to merge the eccentric pin portions into an end surface or shoulder on the shaft. The fillets are formed to have a relatively complex shape with more than a single radius of curvature. In one embodiment, there are two radii of curvature, with a greater radius of curvature formed to extend from an outer periphery of the eccentric pin, and merge into a second portion having the lesser radius of curvature that merges from the first portion downwardly into the shoulder. In a second embodiment, the fillet generally has the shape of one quarter of an ellipse.

    摘要: An improved scroll compressor has condition responsive lubricant volume flow. The lubricant is preferably delivered to a tap positioned adjacent the suction chamber such that lubricant is delivered into the scroll compressor in a quantity which is desirable for normal operation of the scroll compressor. A valve is associated with the tap, and restricts the flow of lubricant through the tap to a first more restrictive non-actuated position. If operational conditions within the scroll compressor indicate that a greater lubricant flow would be desirable, the valve moves to an actuated position at which it is less restrictive to the flow of lubricant.

    摘要: A simplified drive arrangement is provided to allow a scroll compressor to be operated at two capacity levels by a reversible electric motor. A pair of one-way clutches are positioned on a pair of parallel shafts. When the motor is driven in a forward direction drive passes through one of the one-way clutches and directly to the orbiting scroll. However, when the motor is driven in a reverse direction, drive passes through a countershaft, which in turn passes through a second one-way clutch. The drive passing through the second one-way clutch will result in the orbiting scroll being driven at a distinct speed then when the motor is driven in a reverse direction. In this way, capacity modulation is achieved with a very simple mechanism.

    摘要: A number of improvements increase the flow of lubricant within a scroll compressor. A centrifugal oil separator is mounted on the discharge port to remove oil from the refrigerant. The oil is returned through a leak path such that the oil can easily return back to a suction pressure chamber. The leak path is preferably upstream of a check valve. Thus, at shutdown, the leak path will not allow upstream components to also equalize in pressure with the suction pressure chamber of the compressor. Further, a number of embodiments include ways of resisting flow of refrigerant through the leak path, while still allowing oil flow. A number of valve elements are described which perform this function. Alternatively, labyrinth flow paths, or positioning of the return paths such that it will be closed when the compressor is shut down are disclosed.
