    Abstract: A compressor may include first and second scrolls, and an axial biasing chamber. Spiral wraps of the scrolls mesh with each other and form compression pockets including a suction-pressure compression pocket, a discharge-pressure compression pocket, and intermediate-pressure compression pockets. The axial biasing chamber may be disposed axially between the second end plate and a component. Working fluid disposed within the axial biasing chamber may axially bias the second scroll toward the first scroll. The second end plate includes outer and inner ports. The outer port is disposed radially outward relative to the inner port. The outer port may be open to a first one of the intermediate-pressure compression pockets and in selective fluid communication with the axial biasing chamber. The inner port may be open to a second one of the intermediate-pressure compression pockets and in selective fluid communication with the axial biasing chamber.

    Abstract: A compressor includes orbiting and non-orbiting scroll members meshingly engaged to form a series of compression pockets, including first pockets when the orbiting scroll member is in a first position. A first porting in the non-orbiting scroll member communicates with the first pockets during a portion of a compression cycle. The first pockets include a set of radially outermost pockets located radially inward relative to the first porting and isolated from communication with the first porting during the compression cycle. The first porting is aligned with a spiral wrap of the orbiting scroll member at a location radially outward from and directly adjacent the first pockets when the orbiting scroll member is in the first position. Additional porting communicates with each of the compression pockets located radially outward relative to the first pockets when the orbiting scroll member is in the first position.

    Abstract: A vacuum pumping device of the invention comprises a motor (1) driving a multi-stage dry mechanical pump (2) in which the stages (5, 6, 7, 8) are connected successively in parallel and then in series in a plurality of successive configurations, each of which is selected to optimize the pumping speed in the current pressure range. This makes it possible to lower pressure inside an enclosure (100) quickly while reducing the volume of the pump and the energy consumed by the pump by about 40% compared with a traditional pump having a speed that is sufficient to obtain the same rapidity of pumping.

    Abstract: A scroll compressor is provided that may include a casing including a rotational shaft, a cover fixed inside of the casing to partition the inside of the casing into a suction space and a discharge space, a first scroll that is revolved by rotational of the rotational shaft, a second scroll disposed on or at a side of the first scroll to define a plurality of compression chambers together with the first scroll, the second scroll having an intermediate pressure discharge hole that communicates with a compression chamber having an intermediate pressure of the plurality of compression chambers, a back pressure plate coupled to the second scroll, the back pressure plate having an intermediate pressure suction hole that communicates with the intermediate pressure discharge hole, and a floating plate movably disposed on or at a side of the back pressure plate to define the back pressure chamber together with the back pressure plate. The discharge space may have a volume greater by a set ratio or more than a volume of the back pressure chamber.

    Abstract: A variable capacity screw compressor for use in a refrigeration system is provided. Compressed refrigerant gas from the compressor is expelled into a discharge port in fluid communication with the refrigeration circuit. The volume associated with the discharge port can be periodically varied, allowing the efficiency of the compressor to be varied periodically. The discharge port volume includes a penetration that houses a movable member or plug that permits the volume to be periodically varied. This movable member is accessible from the exterior of the compressor housing to adjust the position of the movable member within the discharge port volume. The movable member may be adjusted to a full open position in which the discharge port volume is maximized, to a full closed position in which the discharge port volume is minimized, and to any position between full open and full closed.
