摘要： An image forming apparatus contains an accommodator for accommodating a recording material together with an image forming device for forming an image on that recording material supplied from the accommodator. A fixing apparatus receives the imaged recording material and includes a heat generating resistor layer, a protection layer covering the heat generating resistor layer and a sheet movable with the recording material in sliding contact with the protection layer, wherein the image is heated by heater through the sheet. A position detector detects the position of the recording material and the power supply to the heat generating resistor layer is started in accordance with the output of the position detector.

摘要： An image fixing apparatus includes a heater; a sheet in slidable contact with the heater; and a back-up member cooperative with the heater to form a nip therebetween such that the sheet is interposed in the nip. An unfixed image on a side of a recording material in contact with the sheet is heated and fixed by heat from the heater through the sheet. The sheet includes (i) a base resin layer in slidable contact with the heater, and (ii) a surface parting layer disposed on the base resin layer. The surface parting layer is thinner than the base resin layer.

摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus comprises an ink jet head having an ink path communicating with a discharge opening for discharging ink; electrodes arranged in said ink path; a residual ink quantity detection means for detecting residual ink quantity in said ink path in accordance with a resistance value, current value or voltage value from said electrodes; and a correction means for correcting said resistance value, current value or voltage value in accordance with the difference in a resistance of the ink. This enables the correction means to compensate for different ink resistances and thus provide accurate residual ink detection even when different inks are used or ink resistance changes because of a change in ambient conditions.

摘要： An ink jet color recording method forms a multi-color image on a single recording medium using a monochrome recording apparatus, which includes a mounting portion for detachably mounting an ink recording head for recording by ejecting a monochrome ink, a feed unit for feeding the recording medium, and a discharge unit for discharging the recording medium. First recording information is supplied to a first ink recording head, attached to the mounting portion, for ejecting a first ink, recording is performed using the first ink on the recording medium fed to the recording region by the feed unit, and the recording medium is discharged by the discharge unit. Next, second recording information is supplied to a second ink recording head, attached to the mounting portion in place of the first ink recording head, for ejecting a second ink, the recording medium, on which recording using the first ink has been completed, is fed to the recording region, recording is performed using the second ink, and the recording medium is discharged by the discharge unit. Subsequently, third recording information is supplied to a third ink recording head, attached to the mounting portion in place of the second ink recording head, for ejecting a third ink, the recording medium, on which recording using the first and second inks has been completed, is fed to the recording region by the feed unit, recording is performed using the third ink, and the recording medium is discharged by the discharge unit.
