Abstract: Stimulation of neural activity in a nerve supplying the spleen, wherein the nerve is adjacent to the splenic artery at a position where the splenic artery is not in direct contact with the pancreas, can modulate pro- and anti-inflammatory molecules levels, thereby reducing inflammation and providing ways of treating disorders, such as disorders associated with inflammation. The invention provides improved ways of reducing inflammation with minimized off-target effects, in particular surgical trauma.

Abstract: Stimulation of neural activity in a nerve supplying the spleen, wherein the nerve is associated with a neurovascular bundle, can re-programme immune cells in the spleen, modulate pro- and anti-inflammatory molecules levels, and induce disease-resolution pathways system-ically thereby reducing inflammation and providing ways of treating inflammatory disorders. The invention provides improved ways of treating inflammatory disorders which minimize off-target effects.

Abstract: Modulation of the neural activity of a nerve adjacent to the left gastro epiploic artery (LGEA) and/or a nerve adjacent to a short gastric artery (SGA) can modulate the neural activity of the sympathetic nerves that impact splenic function. This is useful for reducing inflammation and providing ways of treating inflammatory disorders.

Abstract: A device that is implantable in body tissue of a human or animal. The device is comprised of a header comprising at least one terminal adapted for removable connection to a lead and an open ended case closed by a plate to form a housing. The housing is comprised of a surrounding edge wall joined to a first side wall and a second side wall opposed to the first side wall. At least a first suture port extends through the edge wall and the second side wall but not the first side wall at an upper edge region of the housing. A second suture port may extend through the surrounding edge wall and the second side wall but not the first side wall in a similar manner. A third suture port may extend through the header. The three suture ports may define a triangular attachment configuration.

Abstract: There is provided a nerve interface device including (1, 3) comprising: at least one cuff portion; and a first pair of electrodes mounted on the at least one cuff portion. The cuff portion has an assembled position in which the cuff portion forms at least part of a passageway for receiving a nerve along a cuff axis passing through the passageway. The electrodes of the first pair are spaced apart from one another in the direction of the cuff axis.

Abstract: Modulation of neural activity in the superior laryngeal nerve (SLN) or cervical sympathetic trunk (CST) is effective in treating diseases and conditions mediated by thyroid and parathyroid hormones, in particular diseases associated with calcitonin secretion (e.g. osteoporosis) or diseases associated with thyroxine secretion (e.g. hypothyroid syndrome).

Abstract: The invention provides devices, apparatuses, systems and methods for treating and ameliorating inflammation of the gut. In particular, the invention provides devices, apparatuses and methods in which a neuromodulatory signal is delivered a splenic nerve and/or superior mesenteric plexus (SMP). The signal is able to treat inflammatory disorders, e.g., colitis, for example in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
