Abstract:
A belt type variable chamber round baler includes a starting chamber for receiving crop material at the outset of bale formation. An adjustment mechanism is provided for adjusting the volume of the bale starting chamber, for accommodating baling of various crops. A series of starting chamber rollers are supported between a pair of arms, which are pivotably mounted to the baler. The adjustment mechanism is operable to control the position of the pair of arms prior to bale formation, and thereby the position of the starting chamber rollers within the bale forming chamber of the baler. In this manner, the size of the starting chamber can be adjusted.
Abstract:
A baler for forming round bales includes a wrapping device for wrapping a pressed bale with a wrapping material, a pressing chamber where the pressed bale is formed, a guide apparatus for guiding wrapping material to the pressing chamber, and a guide means for guiding the wrapping material via a region from the wrapping device to the guide apparatus. The guide means is movable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the guide means substantially bridges the region between the wrapping device and the guide apparatus. In the second position, the guide means at least partially opens up the region therebetween.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and systems for determining the amount of material contained in a windrow. In particular embodiments, the methods and systems are applicable to agricultural applications, and in particular to hay yield monitoring. Systems include a remote sensing technology to determine windrow height. Remote sensing methods can include ultrasonic sensors, optical sensors, and the like. Systems can provide real time yield data.
Abstract:
A patch material for repairing a damaged portion of a pressing belt used on an agricultural round baler includes an operative outer polymeric layer having a first thickness, a mounting layer disposed parallel to the operative outer polymeric layer and having a second thickness being less than the first thickness, and at least one fabric layer disposed between the operative outer polymeric layer and the mounting layer. A plurality of linear outlines is defined on the operative outer polymeric layer at an operative top surface thereof. The linear outlines are configured to define a pattern with a plurality of predefined shapes. The plurality of the predefined shapes is configured to border a conical portion of a connecting opening defined on the operative top surface of the operative outer polymeric layer. The connecting opening extends the operative outer polymeric layer, the fabric layer, and the mounting layer.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for forming a bale from loose material are disclosed. A feeder feeds loose material to a bale former. The bale former forms a bale from loose material. A feeding-side output shaft drives the feeder. A forming-side output shaft drives the bale former. An input shaft drives both output shafts. A torque measuring arrangement measures a value indicative of the input torque provided by the input shaft. If the input torque value exceeds a given torque threshold, a control unit triggers the bale former for reducing the torque consumption taken from the forming-side output shaft.
Abstract:
A round baler includes a bale-forming chamber with a belt assembly for rolling a bale, the assembly includes a plurality of parallel side-by-side belts trained about rollers transverse to the belts, wherein the rollers have a shaft with a plurality of belt-driving sleeves mounted thereon. The belt-driving sleeves have a circumferential groove and the belts have a longitudinal protrusion to track the belt in the groove of the belt-driving sleeve.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for optimizing the collection of a windrowed crop are described. In an exemplary implementation, conditions data is accessed and used to estimate the moisture content of a windrowed crop. The estimated moisture content is used to create an optimal collection prescription for the operation of baling equipment to collect the crop. During the collection of the crop, the moisture content of the crop is measured and compared to the estimated moisture value. The system may then revise the optimal collection prescription based on the measured moisture value. This process can then be repeated until all of the windrowed crop is collected.
Abstract:
An improved belt tensioning system for an agricultural round baler that increases belt tension to reduce slippage between the belts and the driving rolls during the initial stage of a bale forming cycle when the bale chamber is empty and as the belts are beginning to be rolled. The system includes an accumulator that is pressurized by the tensioning system as a bale is being formed. The accumulator pressure may then be directed to a hydraulic cylinder included in a bale density system to increase tension in the belts after a completed bale is ejected and the bale chamber is being reset for the next bale.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method are disclosed for forming a cylindrical bale in a bale forming chamber. An endless pressing mechanims partially surrounds the bale forming chamber. A first tensioning member and a second tensioning member together tension the pressing mechanism by at least two guiding elements. A tensioning actuator is biased to pivot the second tensioning member away from the first tensioning member.
Abstract:
A round baler is provided with a bale-forming chamber that is surrounded by a pressing apparatus in the form of a single pressing belt or several pressing belts arranged one next to the other, wherein the pressing apparatus contacts a roller that can be driven and freely co-rotating rollers, of which at least one pre-tensioned roller is loaded by pre-tensioning apparatus in the sense of tightening the pressing apparatus such that it pre-tensions the pre-tensioned roller more strongly the farther this roller moves in a direction for loosening the pressing apparatus. The two ends of the pre-tensioned roller are each pre-tensioned by the pre-tensioning apparatus and can move independently of each other.
