摘要:
A composite material adapted for barrier garment applications is made by laminating a film with an amorphous polymer layer to a prebonded nonwoven web under conditions producing laminate bonds corresponding to the prebond locations, and unbonded areas between the bonds while maintaining constant film thickness. The composite has enhanced resistance to viral penetration for use as a surgical gown material, for example, and also desirably has a MVTR of at least about 300 g/m2/24 hours and a hydrohead of at least about 50 mbar. In use as a component of a protective apparel such as a surgical gown or drape, the composite provides comfort and protection with reduced risk of film damage.

摘要:
A method for making loop material for hook and loop fasteners comprising the steps of forming a nonwoven web of randomly deposited nonelastomeric thermoplastic fibers, wherein the nonwoven web has a front side and a back side. Wherein the web is the consolidated by stretching the web in an x direction and then stretching the nonwoven web in a y direction thereby creating looped fibers, a majority of which are in an “x-y” plane. And wherein fluid is passed through the nonwoven web in a “z” direction and then stabilized in the “z” direction.

A female fabric for use in a hook and loop connecting arrangement in which a plurality of spaced substantially parallel yarns having loops projecting from and integral therewith are held in spaced relationship by a suitable adhesive material.

A creped nonwoven web having permanent crepe includes regions of interfilament bonding which are permanently bent out-of-plane, alternating with regions of no interfilament bonding. The non-bonded regions include a multiplicity of filament loops which terminate at both ends in the creped interfilament-bonded regions. The creped nonwoven web is useful as the female component of a hook-and-loop fastener, and can also be used in diaper outercovers, liners, transfer and surge layers, wipers, and other fluid handling products.

A loop material suitable for use with a hook-and-loop fastening system, wherein the loop material includes a first fibrous nonwoven web having a first surface and a second surface and includes carded sheath-core bicomponent staple fibers in which the fibers have a sheath-core melting point differential of at least about 20.degree. C. and a length of from about 10 mm to about 65 mm. The first fibrous nonwoven web has a thickness of at least about 0.15 mm and a basis weight of at least about 20 grams per square meter; a pattern on the first surface thereof of continuous bonded areas defining a plurality of discrete unbonded areas formed by the application of heat and pressure, wherein individual fibers within the discrete unbonded areas have at least a portion thereof extending into and bonded within the continuous bonded areas; and a percent bonded area of from about 20 to about 50 percent. If desired, a film layer may be bonded to the second surface of the first fibrous nonwoven web. Alternatively, a second fibrous nonwoven web may be bonded or laminated to the second surface of the first fibrous nonwoven web. The loop material is particularly suitable for the preparation of a releasably attachable abrasive sheet material.

The present invention relates to an improved loop portion of a hook and loop fastening system. The loop portion is a two-layer composite including a compressively resilient backing material and a layer of fibrous loop material. The loop material is placed adjacent the bottom surface of the backing material and then a plurality of the loop fibers are needled or stitched through the backing material to form a plurality of loops which project above the top surface of the backing material. Due to the resilient nature of the backing material, when a hook member is brought into engagement with the loop material, the backing material compresses thereby exposing a greater portion of the individual loops for engagement with the hooks. Once the hooks have been engaged, the backing material expands back to make the exposed portion of the loops smaller. As a result, more individual engagements between hook and loop elements occur and there is less play between the hook members and loop elements thereby yielding a more firmly engaged hook and loop system as evidenced by increased peel strengths when compared to conventionally-backed loop structures. To add increased strength to the structure, the layer of loop material may contain an adhesive to bond the fibers and more firmly anchor the loops so as to lessen the chance of their disengagement during separation of the hook members from the loop members. Lastly, the adhesive employed may be a pressure-sensitive adhesive to permit the adherence of the loop structure to another substrate such as a diaper outercover.

A sheet of loop material adapted to be cut into pieces to form loop portions for fasteners of the type comprising releasably engageable hook and loop portions, or to be incorporated into items such as disposable garments or diapers or into sheets of abrasives. The sheet of loop material includes a sheet of longitudinally oriented fibers having anchor portions and arcuate portions projecting in one direction away from the anchor portions, and a layer of thermoplastic backing material extruded onto the anchor portions to bond to the anchor portions and form at least a portion of a backing for the loop material. The thermoplastic backing material can also bond the sheet of fibers to a sheet of backing material.

The present invention is directed to a mechanical fastening system for use with disposable absorbent products. More particularly, a reinforced landing surface is disclosed for securing a hook-type mechanical fastener thereto. The reinforced landing surface includes a fibrous non-woven layer and a scrim-like web that is attached in a composite arrangement to the fibrous non-woven layer. The mechanical fasteners include a plurality of hooks, such as those used in a hook and loop type fastener which extend through the scrim-like web and penetrate the non-woven fibrous layer and become intertwined therewith. Depending upon the fastening requirements, the pattern of the scrim-like web may be repetitive, variable, continuous or discrete.

A female component is provided for engaging a complementary hook component in a refastenable fastening device. The female component comprises a nonwoven web secured to a backing. The nonwoven web has characteristics that are specifically suited for entangling and holding the hooks of the mating hook component. The nonwoven web has a basis weight of between about 6 and about 42 grams/meter.sup.2. The nonwoven web may comprise, among other types of nonwovens, a carded web with fibers between about 2.5 cm. and about 13 cm. long, or a spunbonded web with continuous length fibers. The denier of the fibers should be between about 0.5 and about 15. The total area occupied by any bonds between the fibers comprising the nonwoven web is less than about six percent of the total area of the web. The nonwoven web is secured to the backing, preferably autogeneously. The total area occupied by both the bonds between the fibers comprising the nonwoven web and by the bonds between the nonwoven web and the backing is between about 10 percent and about 35 percent of the total area of the female component. A fastening device having a hook fastening component and a female component that comprises the nonwoven female component of the present invention is also provided. The fastening device can be used on disposable articles, such as disposable diapers.
