摘要: An antimicrobial, anti-bacterial processing aid, food additive and food ingredient is provided to inhibit cellular growth of known pathogenic, indicator and spoilage organisms, such as salmonella, stahphylococcus, listeria, e coli, and the like. The antimicrobial agent of the present invention is useful as a treatment for animal feed, a treatment for pre-harvest and post-harvest processing of foodstuffs, a treatment for cooked food subject to airborne contaminants and many other conditions in need of disinfectants and sanitizers. One of the primary benefits of the antimicrobial agent is that it inhibits the growth of bacteria that have become antibiotic resistant.

摘要: An anti-intoxication composition and method of making and using are provided for treating and preventing drinker's remorse and other toxic effects of excessive alcohol consumption by humans. The anti-intoxication composition is an acidic mixture containing sweeteners, flavoring agents, food additives and a processed mixture of metallic salts, sulfuric acid, ammonium sulfate and water. When the anti-intoxication composition is ingested, it promotes the beneficial metabolism of alcohol, primarily ethanol, in the body. The beneficial metabolism results in the conversion of alcohol to amino acids and eliminates the toxic reactions of a hangover, including, but not limited to, a pounding headache, nausea, dry mouth, shaking hands, hypersensitivity to bright lights and sounds.

摘要: A reactive and adsorptive (i.e., multi-functional protective) textile and methods for constructing and using same which possess at least chemically reactive and biocidal properties. Nanoparticles from different classes such as metal oxides, metal hydroxides, metal hydrates and POMs are incorporated into elements which can be utilized in a wide variety of protective materials. The nanoparticles may be treated to reduce water solubility or combined with halogens, alkali metals or secondary metal oxides to specifically engineer the nanoparticle to address a particular chemical or biocidal threat. In one aspect, a protective spatially-distributed biocidal interface is provided comprising a textile having interior structures, wherein protective nanoparticles bonded to said interior structures such that an article or portions of an article which are maintained in proximity to the textile are permitted to safely pass through a contaminated environment without dispersing the nanoparticles from protective proximity to the article.

摘要: The use of a physiologically innocuous ammonium compound and/or urea as an additive to an infant formula or a pap or for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for the prophylaxis of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is disclosed as is also, an infant formula or a pap which in addition to conventional ingredients contains a physiologically innocuous ammonium compound an/or urea. Furthermore, a method of preventing SIDS is disclosed, which method comprises administering to the infant an infant formula or a pap as indicated above, and a method for prophylaxis of SIDS, wherein a pharmaceutical composition containing a physiologically innocuous ammonium compound and/or urea is administered to the infant or the appropriately selected or modified non-pathogenic, urease-producing bacteria are supplied to the gastrointestinal tract of the infant. Finally, a method for the diagnosis of the risks for SIDS is disclosed according to which method the faeces of the infant are analyzed with respect to the presence of urea, urease activity and/or ammonium ions, the presence of urea, the absence of abnormally low urease activity and ammonium ion, respectively, indicating risks for SIDS.
