Abstract:
A computer program product, apparatus, and method for determining the position of a user terminal. It includes receiving at the user terminal a plurality of digital television (DTV) broadcast signals from a plurality of DTV transmitters, determining a pseudo-range between the user terminal and each DTV transmitter based on the DTV broadcast signals, and determining a position of the user terminal based on the pseudo-ranges and a location of each of the DTV transmitters.

Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer-readable media for determining the position of a user terminal comprises receiving at the user terminal a broadcast television signal from a television signal transmitter; determining a first pseudo-range between the user terminal and the television signal transmitter based on a known component of the broadcast television signal; receiving at the user terminal a mobile telephone signal from a mobile telephone base station; determining a second pseudo-range between the user terminal and the mobile telephone base station based on a known component of the mobile telephone signal; and determining a position of the user terminal based on the first and second pseudo-ranges, a location of the television signal transmitter, and a location of the mobile telephone base station; wherein the mobile telephone signal is selected from the group consisting of a EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Evolution) signal; a Code-Division Multiple Access 2000 (cdma2000) signal; and a Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) signal.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer-readable media for determining the position of a user terminal comprises receiving, at the user terminal, a digital audio broadcast signal; and determining a pseudo-range between the user terminal and a transmitter of the digital audio broadcast signal based on a known component of the digital audio broadcast signal; wherein the position of the user terminal is determined based on the pseudo-range between the user terminal and the transmitter of the digital audio broadcast signal and a location of the transmitter of the digital audio broadcast signal.
Abstract:
A video game machine is provided with wireless functionality. The wireless functionality may be built-into the video game machine or may be provided by a device that is removably attachable to the video game machine. The wireless functionality enables, among other things, enhanced multi-player capabilities, the ability to receive video game updates, new game levels and new games.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer-readable media for providing satellite positioning system aiding information to a satellite positioning system receiver configured to determine the position of the satellite positioning system receiver using the satellite positioning system aiding information and the propagation time of a signal transmitted by a satellite in the satellite positioning system comprises providing the satellite positioning system aiding information; providing a digital television signal comprising a plurality of frames, each frame comprising a plurality of data segments; encoding the satellite positioning system aiding information as codewords; replacing data segments within the digital television signal with the codewords; and transmitting the digital television signal; wherein the satellite positioning system receiver receives the digital television signal and recovers the satellite positioning system aiding information.
Abstract:
This winner deciding system includes an information transmitting unit for transmitting preliminary information related to a winning location to a mobile device used by a user, a location receiving unit for receiving location information for specifying a location of the mobile device from the mobile device which has received the preliminary information, a winner deciding unit for deciding a winning mobile device, and a winning result transmitting unit for transmitting a winning result to the decided mobile device.
Abstract:
A game system includes a housing to be held by a player. The housing incorporates an XY-axis acceleration sensor to detect an acceleration in an X-axis and Y-axis direction and a Z-axis contact switch to detect an acceleration in a Z-axis direction. These sensor and switch detect at least one of an amount (e.g. tilt amount, movement amount, impact amount or the like) and a direction (e.g. tilt direction, movement direction, impact direction or the like) of a change applied to the housing. A simulation program provides simulation such that a state of a game space is changed related to at least one of the amount and direction of the change applied to the housing.

Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer-readable media for determining the position of a user terminal comprises generating a correlation reference signal based on known characteristics of a chirp-type signal present in a broadcast analog television signal; receiving, at the user terminal, a broadcast analog television signal comprising the chirp-type signal; and correlating the broadcast analog television signal with the correlation reference signal, thereby producing a pseudorange; and wherein the location of the user terminal is determined based on the pseudorange and a location of the transmitter of the broadcast analog television signal.
