摘要: Disclosed is a method for creating a highly lustrous surface on a workpiece which is made of aluminum or aluminum alloy and has a peak-to-valley height of less than 5 m. Said method comprises the following successive steps: a) the surface is mechanically polished in one or several successive polishing steps by means of a polishing means containing small, hard, sharp-edged particles, whereupon the mechanically polished surface is cleaned of polishing residues; b) a colorless and transparent conversion solution is applied to the mechanically polished, cleaned surface, whereupon the conversion solution is dried so as to form a conversion layer; c) a layer of clear lacquer which can be hardened and is based on inorganic or organic coating materials is applied to the surface that is provided with a conversion layer; d) the clear lacquer that has been applied to the surface is hardened.

摘要: An intrinsically conductive polymer is prepared with a chemical oxidative process. The polymer is prepared by first dipping or coating a substrate with an Fe(III)-containing oxidizer solution and drying. The substrate is then dipped or coated with a monomer, such as 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene solution, and reacted to form the conductive polymer. The monomer is dissolved in a solvent in which it has a high solubility but in which the Fe(III)-containing oxidizer has low solubility. This minimizes cross-contamination of the monomer and oxidizer dipping solutions thereby making this process suitable for high volume production. Dissolving the monomer in a solvent allows control over the stoichiometric ratio of monomer to oxidizer and prevents an excess of monomer thereby facilitating the removal of any unreacted monomer by water. The substrate is then dipped in an aqueous solution of para-toluenesulfonic acid to facilitate the removal of Fe(II) byproducts by enhancing their solubility in water and then the substrate may be washed with an aqueous solution or pure water. The process produces low ESR and low leakage valve metal capacitors with conductive polymer cathodes.

摘要: A process for treating food and beverage containers comprised of low-carbon steel sheet (black plate) to improve the adherence and to resist undercutting of organic can lacquers applied to the surfaces thereof when subjected to agressive environments without visually impairing the light-grey shiny steel appearance of the container surface and without loss of humidity resistance. The treatment can readily be integrated with conventional can body manufacturing procedures and includes contacting the cleaned black plate container body surface with an aqueous acidic solution containing a controlled amount of stannous ions at a controlled temperature for a period of time sufficient to deposit tin on the surfaces thereof in an amount up to about 5 mg/ft.sup.2 followed by rinsing, drying and lacquering.
