Abstract:
A device for measuring the roll gap (7) between the working rollers (1a: 1b) of a cold or warm rolling stand for rolling out narrow or wide strips of metal, especially NE metal strips, by means of roll gap sensors (6) whose signals are transmitted to the servo-valves of the compressed oil control as a roll gap setpoint value for the piston cylinder units influencing said roll gap (7), and used to provide a roller gap measurement which is also suitable for such cases involving the lateral progression of said strip. In order to achieve said aim, the position or travel sensor (6) is provided in at least one bending cylinder (5a;5b) for the working cylinder (1a, 1b) for indirect reference measurement of the roll gap via the positively or negatively acting bending cylinders (5a; 5b).
Abstract:
The invention relates to an arrangement for loading a deflection compensated roll (1) or other elongated member in a paper/board or finishing machine and for providing an articulation bearing assembly, said roll or elongated member being provided with a stationary support shaft (3) extending axially of the roll or the elongated member or with stub shafts present at the ends thereof, the support shaft ends or said stub shafts protruding from the roll or the elongated member and being mounted on a bearing block (9). The arrangement of the invention comprises at least one hydrostatic main loading element (4), which is mounted on the bearing block (9) and works on the support shaft (3) or said stub shafts of the roll (1) or other elongated member and which constitutes a loading element and, at the same time, an articulation bearing assembly for the discussed roll or other elongated member.
Abstract:
A bending block for a four-high rolling stand comprising working rolls (11a, 11b) and back-up rolls (12a, 12b) associated with respective chocks (14a, 14b; 15a, 15b), the stand also comprising a stationary housing (16) associated with means (17) for the crossing of the rolls, the working rolls (11a, 11b) being able to be translated axially. The crossing means (17) cooperating with the outer lateral faces of the chocks (14a, 14b) at least of the working rolls (11a, 11b) by means of intermediate plates to distribute the thrust. There also being included bending jacks to bend at least the working rolls (11a, 11b ), the intermediate plates to distribute the thrust consisting of gibs (18) shaped like a vertical plate (19) with at least two fins (20, 21) orthogonal to the vertical plate (19), the two fins (20, 21) being arranged on one side and the other astride a fin extension (114) of the chock (14) of the relative working roll (11), the two fins (20, 21) defining the respective positioning seating (23) for the bending jacks (24a, 24b). There also being included between the crossing means (17) and the relative gib (18) a containing and guiding plate (25).
Abstract:
Compression unit for oscillating roll, suitable to generate a compression thrust on a surface subject to translatory movements on a plane which does not contain the axis on which the compression thrust is made. The compression unit include an oscillating plunger body housed inside a stationary housing seating made in a piston element, the plunger body being conformed as a double element spherical cap, the first spherical cap element facing towards the piston element, being entirely contained inside the containing seating cradle and cooperating rotatably, with the inner spherical surface of the seating, the second spherical cap element being partly outside the containing cradle and facing towards the translatable surface and partly cooperating with the at least partly spherical surface of a movable element solid with the translatable surface. Between the first and second spherical cap elements there is placed an annular cylindrical connection and centering element including an elastic ring.
Abstract:
A work roll bending system for profile control of continuous metal strip during rolling which is especially useful for retrofitting an existing rolling mill absent such feature to provide it with roll bending capabilities. The advantage of the system is its compactness in the vertical direction which facilitates its positioning between housing posts of the rolling mill where space in the vertical direction is often limited. Bending wings for exerting bending forces to work roll chocks with use of hydraulic cylinder and piston assemblies extend from the chocks in an intermeshing manner to allow wings from top and bottom work roll chocks to occupy the same horizontal plane without interference during at least some roll gap settings. That bending wing arrangement also allows for elimination of a "layer" of hydraulic cylinder and piston assemblies which also reduces space requirements in the vertical direction.
Abstract:
A system and method for improving properties of a metal strip during rolling between rotating upper and lower work rolls in a mill stand, for reducing work roll edge wear, for improving distribution of thermal expansion of the work roll during rolling, for reducing required rolling torque for achieving a particular strip thickness reduction, and for increasing the tonnage of rolled strip between roll changes, by continuously shifting the rotating work rolls during rolling to impart a spiral motion to the work rolls, and by online grinding, heat rehardening and cooling of the work rolls outside the mill stand.
Abstract:
The crown on a steel strip in a rolling mill is controlled by a continuous rotational adjustment of an arbor in response to a control signal representing the current crown profile or deviation therefrom, the arbor being equipped with a series of eccentric rings fixed thereto, bearings surrounding the rings, and a continuous or segmented sleeve around the rings. Where the sleeve is segmented, use of an intermediate roll is suggested.
Abstract:
A rolling mill with axially shiftable rolls, comprising, inside a supporting stand, at least two working rolls with bending jacks bearing in the direction of the bending force on a T-shaped sliding piece comprising a part forming a foot engaging into a housing machined in the block containing the bending jacks, to allow guidance in a translational movement in the vertical plane, and the chocks of the working rolls bearing on the pieces and thereby receiving the bending force can also shift on the pieces by sliding when the rolls are to be shifted axially.
Abstract:
Slitting shears for sheets and strips of metal. The shears include knife rollers which support circular knives and are adjustable for adjusting the overlap of the knives. The gaps between the knives are adjustable by means of spacer sleeves arranged on the rolls between the circular knives. The slitting shears further include a bending control unit for the knife rollers for keeping constant the adjusted knife overlap and knife gaps. The bending control unit makes it possible to prevent positional changes of the cutting edges of the circular knives under load, so that cut edges without burrs can always be produced independently of the cutting forces. Bending of the knife rollers can be compensated in a controlled manner by sensing the bending of a knife roller.
