Abstract: A laundry washing machine and method automate the selection of various operational settings for a wash cycle based in part on color composition data collected from a load of articles using a color detection sensor. In some instances, the capture of color composition data is triggered by detected weight changes sensed by a weight sensor as the load of articles is added to a wash tub, and is based in part on the detection of a stable weight in the wash tub for at least a predetermined duration. In addition, in some instances, color compensation data may be used to characterize a load of articles based in part on a color decision algorithm that assigns pixels in the color compensation data to different color categories.

Abstract: A washing machine appliance includes a wash basket that is rotatably mounted within a wash tub and that defines a wash chamber for receiving a load of clothes. A motor assembly is mechanically coupled to the wash basket for selectively rotating the wash basket and a camera assembly is mounted within the cabinet in view of the wash chamber. A controller is configured to obtain a series of image frames using the camera assembly during a wash cycle, identify a tracking point on a clothing article, generate a motion path of the tracking point over the series of image frames using an optical flow technique, estimate a turnover rate of the load of clothes based at least in part on the motion path of the clothing article, and implement responsive action in response to determining that the turnover rate falls below a predetermined threshold rate.

Abstract: A method of identifying the properties of a washload contained in a washing machine based on variations in the output of a water level sensor resulting from transitions that alter the water level in the washer without requiring a change in the volume of water in the washer. Results are independent of the initial wetness of the washload. However initial wetness can also be determined. Variations are at least in part a function of the rate at which the wetness of the washload changes. The rate is nonlinear determined by the composition of the washload. In most transitions the water level is also affected by other factors most of which are at least in part a function of the composition. To simplify the identification preferred transitions occur once the washload wetness has reached equilibrium. To increase accuracy preferably both wetting and dehydrating transitions are used for identification.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for reducing displacement of a washing machine having a drum rotatable about an axis of rotation is disclosed. The washing machine comprises a chassis and a motor for rotation a drum. The drum is suspended from the chassis by a suspension. The suspension can comprise springs having six natural frequencies that can resonate at a rotational speed of the drum driven by the motor. The suspension system can be tuned such that resonant frequencies can be varied based upon rotational speed of the drum.

Abstract: A dryer according to the disclosure may detect current flowing through a motor for rotating a drum, detect humidity of a drying material accommodated in the drum, compare the detected humidity to a plurality of pieces of reference humidity and compare the detected current to a plurality of pieces of reference current to obtain a drying load, control a revolutions per minute (rpm) of the motor, a frequency of a compressor provided in a heat pump, and a degree of superheat of an evaporator provided in the heat pump based on the drying load, perform a drying process, detect humidity of the drying material while the drying process is performed, and finish the drying process in response to the detected humidity determined to be target humidity.

Abstract: A washing machine and a method for controlling thereof. A washing machine including a spin basket, the washing machine including a driving unit configured to rotate the spin basket, a sensor configured to detect an operation of the washing machine, a display configured to display information, and a processor configured to, based on a user command for managing the washing machine being received, perform a cleaning course for cleaning the spin basket, obtain diagnosis information regarding the washing machine using the sensor while the cleaning course is performed, and display the obtained diagnosis information on the display. The processor is configured to perform the cleaning course by controlling the driving unit to supply wash water to the spin basket and rotate the spin basket filled with the wash water.

Abstract: A dryer comprising: a communication interface; an input unit including a plurality of buttons; a weight sensor; a dust sensor; and a processor that: transmits state information of the dryer and at least one of the weight and an amount of dust detected to the server; based on a recommended scenario obtained from the server based on the state information and at least one of the weight and the amount of dust, sets the function of at least one button as a selection function of the recommended scenario. Based on a user command selecting the at least one button, transmits information on the recommended scenario corresponding to the selected button to the server, wherein the information on the recommended scenario is used by the server in order to control the operation of an external electronic device operate the external electronic device based on the information on the recommended scenario.
