摘要: Provided are apparatus and methods for sensing material degradation through sensing of mass accumulation. In some aspects, the apparatus and methods employ a material such as aerogel in conjunction with a force-sensing device such as a piezoelectric sensor placed in contact with or in proximity to a material under test. Degradation of the material under test is sensed by sensing a change in mass of the aerogel absorbing parts or particles of material lost by the unit under test that, in turn, acts to further place force on or deform the piezoelectric sensor enabling real time measurement of degradation by sensing changes in the output voltage of the piezoelectric sensor. These changes in output voltage may then be correlated to the mass degradation of the unit under test.

摘要: In a method of measuring parameters of superabsorbents, the absorption capacity of superabsorbents is determined under pressure, by reducing the pressure applied to a sample of the superabsorbent stepwise and determining the absorption capacity at each pressure. In addition, the rise in absorption capacity after a reduction in pressure is measured as a function of time and this is used to calculate the swelling constant k or the characteristic swelling time τ. Swelling constant or characteristic swelling time or the magnitude of the difference in absorption capacity at two different pressures are used to determine further parameters of the superabsorbent.

摘要: The invention discloses a parallel device and method for high-precision determination of sulfur solubility under multiple influencing factors, and the device comprises an elemental sulfur absorption system, an elemental sulfur saturation system and a sulfur content determination system. The elemental sulfur absorption system is used to remove the dissolved elemental sulfur in the sour gas. The elemental sulfur saturation system is arranged in parallel to saturate sour gases at different temperatures and pressures at the same time. The elemental sulfur absorption system and the elemental sulfur saturation system are arranged in parallel. The sulfur content determination system is used to determine the total sulfur content of the parallel elemental sulfur saturation system and the elemental sulfur content in the sour gas after absorbing the elemental sulfur under the same conditions.

摘要: A method includes receiving multiplexed sensor data from a sensor array. The multiplexed sensor data includes first data from a first sensor of the sensor array and second data from a second sensor of the sensory array. The first data includes first frequency information of a first cantilevered element, the first cantilevered element including a coating material having an affinity for a compound and no diffusion barrier. The second data includes second frequency information of a second cantilevered element, the second cantilevered element including the coating material and a diffusion barrier. The diffusion barrier inhibits mass transfer to the second cantilevered element. The method also includes conditionally generating, based on an analysis of the first data and the second data, an output. The output is conditioned on the first frequency information and the second frequency information indicating more than a threshold amount of the compound present at the sensor array.

That method includes determining the initial mass of a filter at the start of a time interval, by means of strain gauges, passing an airflow through the filter for a time interval, determining the end mass of the filter at the end of the time interval, by means of strain gauges, ascertaining the mass difference between the end mass and the initial mass of the filter and outputting of information, based on the ascertained mass difference, concerning the particle load of the airflow. An apparatus for ascertaining information concerning a particle load of an airflow flowing into a vehicle interior is also disclosed.

摘要: A method and apparatus for extracting the contents of voids and/or pores present in a semiconductor device to obtain information indicative of the nature of the voids and/or pores, e.g. to assist with metrology measurements. The method includes heating the semiconductor wafer to expel the contents of the voids and/or pores, collecting the expelled material in a collector, and measuring a consequential change in mass of the semiconductor wafer and/or the collector, to extract information indicative of the nature of the voids. This information may include information relating to the distribution of the voids and/or pores, and/or the sizes of the voids and/or pores, and/or the chemical contents of the voids and/or pores. The collector may include a condenser having a temperature-controlled surface (e.g. in thermal communication with a refrigeration unit) for condensing the expelled material.

A porous material or a particulate material, e.g., nanoparticles, is used in place of a uniform membrane which has been conventionally used as a receptor layer. Accordingly, the sensitivity can be controlled by changing the membrane thickness of the receptor layer, the selectivity can be controlled by changing a surface modifying group to be fixed on the porous material or particulate material, and the durability can be controlled by changing the composition and surface properties of the porous material or particulate material.
