    摘要: An internal combustion engine provided with a cylinder block able to move relative to a crankcase is provided with a block movement mechanism arranged just at one side of the internal combustion engine, a pair of guide walls provided at the crankcase, a support member supporting a side surface of the cylinder block, and a pushing member pushing against a side surface of the cylinder block. Further, at the guide wall at the side of arrangement of the block movement mechanism, the support member is attached to the top side from the position of attachment of the other end part of the connecting member and the pushing member is attached to the bottom side from the position of attachment of the other end part of the connecting member, while at the guide wall at the opposite side from the side of arrangement of the block movement mechanism, the support member is attached to the bottom side (bottom side of cylinder block) a predetermined space from pushing member.

    摘要: A first die segment for forming an internal combustion engine block has cylindrical projections, and die core pieces disposed about the cylindrical projections. A second die segment has die core stubs positioned so as to extend between adjacent die core pieces when the segments are brought together. An engine block formed by the die segments has cylindrical bores formed by the cylindrical projections extending from the deck of the block and voids formed by the die core pieces also extending from the deck and disposed about the cylindrical bores. Pockets formed by the die core stubs extend into sides of the engine block between adjacent voids. The engine block is worked below the level of the deck to undercut each of the pockets, removing material between them and the voids to result in an interconnected water jacket extending about the cylindrical bores, while leaving the deck closed.

    摘要: A casing structure of an automotive internal combustion engine includes an upper/lower divided crankcase structure. A crankshaft and a first transmission shaft of a pair of transmission shafts parallel to the crankshaft of a transmission are axially supported by a dividing surface of the upper crankcase and the lower crankcase. The dividing surface of the crankcase is inclined so that a second transmission shaft axially supported by the upper crankcase above the first transmission shaft is below the crankshaft. A cylinder is formed on the upper crankcase so that a cylinder axial line is orthogonal to the dividing surface.
