Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for learning to generate maps from raw geospatial observations from sensors traveling within an environment. Methods may include: receiving a plurality of sequences of geospatial observations from discrete trajectories; aligning and concatenating the trajectories to generate concatenated, aligned geospatial observations; performing attentional clustering on the concatenated, aligned geospatial observations to obtain a set of entities; processing the set of entities using one or more Set Transformers; generating a preliminary feature set of map object geometries; determining a number of output entities from each of the one or more output heads based on statistics from the plurality of sequences of geospatial observations from the discrete trajectories and a count of the discrete trajectories; and outputting a feature set, the feature set including a number of map object geometries corresponding to a respective number of output entities for the respective output head.

Abstract: A map creation device includes a processor, and the processor is configured to execute a program to acquire an image captured by a camera mounted in a vehicle, estimate a first position indicating a position of the vehicle and an error of the first position based on information indicating a traveling state of the vehicle, estimate a second position indicating the position of the vehicle and an error of the second position based on radio waves transmitted from artificial satellites, set position information of the vehicle preferentially using one position with a smaller error of the first position and the second position, and create a map of places in which the vehicle has traveled based on the set position information of the vehicle and the image.

Abstract: The technology involves identifying suitable pickup and drop-off locations based on detected pedestrian walking paths. Mapped areas have specific physical configurations, which may suggest places to pick up or drop off a rider (or a delivery). However, relying solely on map-based information fails to account for how people actually walk or where a most convenient pickup/drop-off spot is located. A walking path heatmap can be generated based on obtained historical and/or real-time pedestrian-related information, which can be obtained by autonomous vehicles driving in areas of interest. Incorporating heatmap information into the evaluation, the system identifies locations for optimized pickup or drop-off in accordance with where pedestrians would likely go. One aspect involves classifying different objects, for instance identifying one or more objects as people who may be walking versus riding a bicycle. Once classified, information about the paths is used to obtain a the heatmap associated with the walking paths.

Abstract: A vehicle and control method thereof are intended to promote safe driving of a driver by securing a map of surroundings around the vehicle and displaying a guide line for safe driving when the driver needs to display a guide line for safe driving while the vehicle is driving. The control method of the vehicle includes: checking whether a preset condition for generating a map and displaying a guide line is satisfied while the vehicle is driving; and generating a new map of the surroundings around a place where the vehicle is located and displaying the guide line for safe driving on the map when the preset condition for generating the map and displaying the guide line is satisfied.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods of generating blockages in map information for use by a fleet of autonomous vehicles. For instance, information from an autonomous vehicle of the fleet may be received by one or more processors of a server computing system. That the received information meets at least one set of rules for generating blockages may be determined. Based on the determination that the received information meets at least one set of rules for generating blockages, blockage data identifying a specific area of a blockage may be generated. The blockage data may be sent to the autonomous vehicles of the fleet in order to enable the autonomous vehicles of the fleet to avoid the specific area of the blockage.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide assisted navigation based on surrounding threats. In one example, an assisted navigation system receives data from a plurality of sensors associated with a mobile structure. The assisted navigation system determines a plurality of navigational hazards disposed within a monitored area associated with the mobile structure. The assisted navigation system processes the data and/or the navigational hazards to determine an operational context of the mobile structure. The assisted navigation system generates a context-dependent navigational chart for the mobile structure, wherein the navigational chart comprises greater or fewer of the navigational hazards in response to the determined operational context. The assisted navigation system updates the navigational chart in response to changes in the data. Additional systems and methods are provided.
