Abstract:
A method and apparatus for accurately determining the weight of the contents of a vessel at selected time intervals. The apparatus of the invention can be quickly and easily installed on an existing structure without requiring substantial modification to the structure. More particularly, in one form of the invention, the apparatus embodies small and inexpensive transducers that are conveniently mounted above the flanges that support the vessel legs.
Abstract:
A load cell for an electronic scale, which is capable of providing both load support and load measurement in a planar member. This is accomplished by configuring the load cell as a substantially flat circular plate having an E-shaped deflectable member defined therein. The E-shaped member includes three beams, at least one of which includes a sensor arrangement that responds to a load applied to the deflectable member by generating an electrical signal that is indicative of the load applied to the E-shaped member.
Abstract:
A load measuring system specially adapted for installation on the support legs of existing storage vessels. The load measuring system includes an attachment plate that is fastened to each support leg of the vessel, a support plate that is mounted on anchor bolts projecting upwardly from the supporting surface, and a load cell positioned between the attachment plate and the support plate. The support plate is supported by nuts threaded on respective anchor bolts. The nuts are rotated to raise the lower ends of the support legs above the supporting surface, thereby transferring the portion of the vessel's weight carried by the support leg to the load measuring system. The space between the support plate and the supporting surface is then filled with a supporting material such as concrete.
Abstract:
A precision balance of the type having a short-stroke measuring system includes a load receptor connected to the measuring system by means of a hanger. The load receptor has the shape of a yoke and extends around the hanger. The yoke-shaped load receptor rests on the ends of two arms of a receiving element, wherein the arms are attached to the bottom of the hanger and elastically prestressed to press against the hanger. The yoke-shaped load receptor is held at the upper part of the hanger in a manner allowing guided sideways movement of the load receptor.
Abstract:
A data gathering system including a scanner and scale including one or more of the following features: a construction of compact dimensions with a low profile; integrated construction of the locations of the scanner and scale, and their associated components; modular components that are easily detachable and serviced; a rigid casing which is integrated into the overall data gathering system and which prevents a countertop from contacting the scale; and diagnostic capability incorporated into the data gathering system.
Abstract:
The instant invention is directed to a mounting device for a load cell scale that is a component of a high speed sheet processing system. The invention has particular utility in a mail processing machines which include the step of weighing mailpieces. The mounting device of the instant invention is one that provides reliability, ease of manufacture, and ease of assembly. In addition, isolation members are included that isolate the scale platform from vibrations caused by the scale's environment.
Abstract:
A load cell balance including a load cell and a scale frame connected to the load cell at a position offset from the center of the scale frame, so as to improve weighing accuracy and reduce a size of the balance. The scale frame is provided with a slit for making amounts of flexure of four corners of the scale frame equal to one another upon receiving of the same load, so that the amounts of flexure of the four corners of the scale frame having received the same load can be made equal to one another. Accordingly, the gap defined between the scale frame and each of four stoppers for limiting the amounts of flexure can be easily adjusted.
Abstract:
A strain gauge element in which the compression forces applied by at least one of the pressure members are transmitted to a first surface of the strain gauge by a cross formed by two cylindrical rods, the contact between the strain gauge (or the said pressure member) and the cross being exerted on a generating line of one of the rods (or the other rod) of the cross, permitting the said pressure member to carry out a tilting movement about the said rod (or the other rod). The reactionary compression forces applied to a second surface of the strain gauge are applied either by at least one cross or by rods.
Abstract:
A measuring platform having at least one force transducer rigidly fixed to either the base or cover element and to the other of the base or cover element movably to minimize measuring errors due to bending of the cover element under forces to be measured.
Abstract:
There is described a device, comprised of a frame or substructure, four arms arranged in cross shape or substantially in cross shape and hingedly supported on knife-edge in said frame, a weighing plate vertically movable relative to said frame, bearing through knife-edges on said arms, in notches provided therefor in the arms, in which said arms bear with the mutually-facing ends thereof on a box-design sensor, whereby the sensor capacity is changed proportionally to that force being exerted on said weighing plate, and in which said sensor is formed by a box-like holder with a bottom whereon a first insulated armature which acts as lowermost capacitive plate, is firmly secured.
