    摘要: Methods, systems and apparatus for manipulating electromagnetic radiation such as laser beams. A method and apparatus for correcting magnification chromatic aberration utilises one or more dispersive lenses such that long wavelength components are magnified less than short wavelength components. A telecentric relay is preferred to achieve this aim. Further, the use of polarisers to block the undesired zeroth order components of diffraction emanating from acousto-optic deflectors (AODs) is disclosed. Furthermore, specific designs of AOD including narrow transducer AODs which produce a diverging acoustic wave and AODs having two transducers and a selection switch are disclosed. Further, the invention provides methods, systems and apparatus for allowing the wavelength of radiation to be changed, for providing a user selectable degree of compensation, for providing a scanning and/or a pointing system and for providing a compact system that does not require telecentric relays between adjacent acousto-optic deflectors.

    摘要: The present invention provides an acoustooptic device usable even with light in the ultraviolet region, free from laser damage and optical damage, and excellent in acoustooptic performance and an optical imaging apparatus using the same. The acoustooptic device according to the present invention includes a high-frequency signal input part (65), a transducer part (64), and an acoustooptic medium (6). A high-frequency signal input from the high-frequency signal input part (65) is converted into a mechanical vibration by the transducer part (64), and an optical characteristic of the acoustooptic medium (6) varies depending on the mechanical vibration. The acoustooptic medium is formed of a Group III nitride crystal. The optical imaging apparatus according to the present invention includes a light source, an acoustooptic device, a driving circuit, and an image plane. Light from the light source is diffracted by the acoustooptic device in accordance with a signal from the driving circuit and the resultant diffracted light forms an image on the image plane. An acoustooptic medium of the acoustooptic device is formed of a Group III nitride crystal.

    摘要: A leaky-mode acousto-optical modulator may be used to generate visual images suitable for direct viewing, without image-forming optics. To extend a field of view of the modulator to limits suitable for visual displays, an array of acoustic transducers is coupled to a waveguide along its length. Each acoustic transducer generates an acoustic wave causing a corresponding leaky mode to appear. A reflector is disposed proximate each transducer for directing the out-coupled light portion at a unique angle, providing a corresponding field of view portion for that direction. The field of view portions coalesce into a continuous synthetic field of view suitable for wide-angle visual display applications.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a Photoelastic Modulator (PEM), particularly to a novel polarized light modulator structure based on a photoelastic effect. The PEM, which controls driving voltages of two groups of piezoelectric actuators, is able to implement polarized light modulation having a relatively large optical path difference, and polarized light modulator having a fast modulation shaft moving circumferentially, and the PEM operates stably without a moving component. The present invention includes the piezoelectric actuators, a light pass crystal and a driver controller. Two light pass faces of the light pass crystal are parallel regular octagons directly facing each other, and identical rectangles are formed by side faces of the light pass crystal. The piezoelectric actuators are in soft connection with middle positions of the rectangles by connection rubber layers. The width directions of the piezoelectric actuators are consistent with the direction of the light pass thickness of the light pass crystal, and the widths are slightly larger than the light pass thickness. The piezoelectric actuators are connected with electric output ends on the driver controller by electric adapters. This aspect is mainly applied to PEMs.
