    摘要: A circuit block which comprises a non-linear capacitor with two different values of capacitance dependent on a value of a voltage of a resonant signal on the capacitor; a plurality of second capacitors each coupled to a respective switch to enable a said second capacitor to be switched in or out of parallel connection with the nonlinear capacitor; and a tuning control, coupled to the second capacitor switches, and sensing an amplitude of the resonant signal. The tuning control circuit is configured to control the second capacitor switches to successively switch the second capacitors in/out of parallel connection with the non-linear capacitor dependent on the amplitude of the resonant signal until the non-linear capacitor has substantially a single one of two different values, such that in a resonant circuit the circuit block then behaves as a fixed value capacitor.

    摘要: A method is for choosing a mode out of a set of functioning modes of an integrated circuit (IC) device powered from different supply voltages from respective supply nodes. The IC device may include a mode pin for determining a functioning mode of the device, an internal control circuit coupled to the supply nodes and to the mode pin for sensing an electrical value on the mode pin and to start the IC device in a respective functioning mode depending on the supply node that is powered first. The method may include identifying the different supply voltage that first exceeds a threshold voltage, when the internal control circuit is powered, sensing the electrical value on the mode pin, and powering circuits of the IC device from the different supply voltage that first exceeded the threshold voltage and starting the device in a functioning mode determined by a value of the electrical value sensed on the mode pin and by the different supply voltage that first exceeded the voltage threshold.

    摘要: An embodiment of the present invention improves the efficiency of radio frequency identification (RFID) systems and helps to extend the effective read range for certain configurations of closely spaced RFID tags. Specifically, an embodiment helps to minimize energy losses that result when there is excess energy from the excitation source. This excess energy has the potential to damage the circuitry in RFID tags. A shunt regulator is often used to protect the RFID circuitry by clamping the voltage, but has the undesirable effect of converting this excess excitation energy into heat. Various embodiments are directed toward using only as much of the excitation energy as necessary to power the RFID circuitry. These embodiments include circuitry for a constant current power supply that can be implemented either with discrete components or built into a new ASIC design; a network that minimizes the amount of energy that is converted to heat by the shunt regulator built into many RFID circuits; and/or a sleep mode for reducing the energy consumed by an RFID tag after it has been read. An embodiment may have the benefit of making more of the excitation energy available to power other RFID tags nearby—thereby improving system performance and read range.

    摘要: The adverse effect of noise a constant voltage receives in a semiconductor device capable of data communication through wireless communication is suppressed. Further, communication is performed normally with a constant voltage with less noise even in the case where the amount of received power is large. The semiconductor device includes an input circuit for generating a DC voltage from an AC signal, a circuit for generating a constant voltage lower than the DC voltage, a circuit portion supplied with the constant voltage, a filter, and a feedback circuit for changing impedance with the constant voltage input from the circuit for generating a constant voltage, wherein the filter is electrically connected between the input circuit and the circuit for generating a constant voltage.
