Abstract: a reservoir (10) for a scavenging system has a suction line (12) of a pump disposed within the reservoir and a float mechanism (24) that controls the fluid pathway (21) from the reservoir into the suction line (12) in response to the height (22) of the fluid within the reservoir. This system restricts large volume of air from being drawn into the suction line as the fluid level in the reservoir is lowered. The float mechanism includes a sealing arrangement (25) to restrict air from being introduced into the openings from around the float mechanism (24) during operation of the system. An apparatus (26) is also associated with the float mechanism (24) to cause the pathway (21) to be significantly lowered relative to the level (22) of the fluid and the openings (18) in the suction line (12). This system allows the fluid level (22) in the reservoir (10) to be at a very low level without drawing any appreciable amount of air into the suction line ( 12), while providing very low restriction to the flow of the fluid into the suction line (12) at high levels (22) of the fluid.

Abstract: A water filter system with a filter housing, a filter media, a filter coupling, and a dynamic seal. The filter housing has a top plate and a bottom plate which are both water-permeable, as well as a cavity between the top plate and the bottom plate. The filter media is within the cavity of the filter housing and extends through the bottom plate of the filter housing. The filter coupling extends upward from the top plate and is configured to attach to a float with at least one air chamber. The dynamic seal is coupled to the filter housing along a perimeter of the filter housing and is configured to extend beyond a perimeter of the float, maintain contact with a wall of a water container, and restrict water from passing between the dynamic seal and the wall of the water container.

Abstract: A portable drinking water filter system, such as a pitcher, having a sleeve and a floatable body including a filter opening configured to receive a water filter, the floatable body having a seal extending outward from an outer surface of the floatable body. The floatable body is disposed in a sleeve cavity such that a body seal engages the sidewall and restricts water from passing between the floatable body and the sidewall. The seal is configured to create friction with the sidewall, wherein the friction created when the floatable body rises in the sleeve is different than when the floatable body lowers in the sleeve. The friction created when the floatable body rises in the sleeve is greater than when the floatable body lowers in the sleeve, allowing the floatable body to auto-retract toward a cavity base without burping.

Abstract: A floating pool skimmer (1) that randomly travels across the surface of a pool to ensure that the entire surface of the water in the pool is cleaned. The floating pool skimmer has an elongated hose (3) that attaches to a conventional fixed pool skimmer, a vacuum inlet and/or a vacuum hose (6) connecting an automatic pool vacuum (2) to a pool pump and filter. A basket (26) held within a main housing (8) strains water and traps debris which is held in the basket by suction from the pool filter while the pool filter is operational. When the pool filter is not running a floating weir (17) and/or one or more weir doors (30) prevents debris from floating back out of the basket and into the pool. Apertures (14) located on the main housing allow water into the main housing that then acts as a ballast to ensure the floating pool skimmer remains upright at all times.
