Abstract:
A floating liquid intake for a liquid suction removal system, the liquid intake comprising housing defining an internal cavity. The housing has a hollow and buoyant annular body, an upper cover and a lower cover. The internal cavity is formed between the upper and lower covers. A substantially annular inlet is formed in the annular body for ingress of liquid into the cavity. The annular body has a buoyancy sufficient for the liquid intake to float in a liquid with the annular inlet submerged below the surface of the liquid in which the liquid intake is floating. A pipe extends into the cavity and the pipe includes an inlet that in use is open below the surface of the liquid within the cavity. The pipe extends outside of the cavity for connection to a liquid suction removal system.
Abstract:
A surface water outlet device for allowing water removal from a sediment pond while controlling sediment removal that includes a float formed of interconnected lengths of pipe sealed against water intrusion and a drain pipe attached to the float and having a plurality of openings to allow water to drain into the drain pipe. A swivel is positioned intermediate the float and the drain pipe and adapted to allow the float to rise and fall with the water level in the sediment pond and to allow the drain pipe to pivot relative to the float as the floats rises and falls with the water level. An annular slide pipe is positioned over the drain pipe and is moveable along the length of the drain pipe to cover a varying length of the slots to correspondingly vary the rate at which water flows into the drain pipe through the slots.
Abstract:
A floating pool skimmer (1) that randomly travels across the surface of a pool to ensure that the entire surface of the water in the pool is cleaned. The floating pool skimmer has an elongated hose (3) that attaches to a conventional fixed pool skimmer, a vacuum inlet and/or a vacuum hose (6) connecting an automatic pool vacuum (2) to a pool pump and filter. A basket (26) held within a main housing (8) strains water and traps debris which is held in the basket by suction from the pool filter while the pool filter is operational. When the pool filter is not running a floating weir (17) and/or one or more weir doors (30) prevents debris from floating back out of the basket and into the pool. Apertures (14) located on the main housing allow water into the main housing that then acts as a ballast to ensure the floating pool skimmer remains upright at all times.
Abstract:
A cold water piping system including a floating platform having horizontal and vertical surfaces, the platform including a moon pool generally in the middle of the horizontal surface in the form of a vertical cylinder with four recesses having a rectangular shape, an articulating interface suspended directly from the platform, the interface including a tubular shape made of fabric and a bellows assembly disposed at a bottom portion thereof. The system also includes at least two suspension cable assemblies secured to the platform, where the at least two suspension cables cross the moon pool, vertically mounted modular elements, where ends of the suspension cable assemblies are fastened to a top modular element at four diametrically opposed points, and a strainer having sea water intakes including a counterweight connected to the lowest modular element. The system also includes winches disposed on the horizontal surface of the platform and deployment cables connected to the strainer and winches.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a floating filter module installed in a water treatment apparatus, such as in a public water treatment plant, a village water supply facility, a public sewage treatment plant, a wastewater treatment plant, or a village sewage treatment plant, in order to remove contamination particles. The floating filter module according to the present invention comprises: a hollow-type sintered filter having a plurality of fine pores which is arranged in wastewater within a water treatment tank in order to separate and filter the contamination particles from the wastewater introduced into the water treatment tank; a floating body connected to the sintered filter, and which floats to the surface of the wastewater within the water treatment tank so as to position the sintered filter at the upper portion of the wastewater in the water treatment tank; a main pipe communicating with an inner space of the sintered filter; a suction device coupled to the main pipe in order to provide a suction force to the sintered filter through the main pipe, thereby suctioning the wastewater in the water treatment tank through the plurality of fine pores and into the sintered filter; and a compressed-air supply apparatus having a compressed-air supply tube communicating with the inner space of the sintered filter through the main tube and an air compressor coupled to the compressed-air supply tube in order to supply compressed air into the inner space of the sintered filter, thereby releasing from the sintered filter the contamination particles that clog the fine pores of the sintered filter.
Abstract:
A self-cleaning screen includes a rotatable drum made of mesh material and an inlet pipe extending through a front end of the drum. A flotation structure supports the drum with the inlet pipe and the lower part of the drum submerged during use. A cleaning spray system located within the drum receives cleaning water through a hollow shaft supporting a rear end of the drum. Spray nozzles located within an upper part of the drum above the water level direct the cleaning water radially outward to dislodge debris from the screen. The front end of the drum includes an annular ring and a rubber seal extending radially inwardly from the annular ring to engage the inlet pipe. A drive belt extends around the annular ring to rotate the drum. A plurality of rollers engage an outer surface of the annular ring to support the drum for rotation about a horizontal axis.
Abstract:
An apparatus for buoyancy driven filtration includes a tank and a filter assembly. The tank preferably includes a cylindrical sidewall, a circular base and a roof. The sidewall extends upward from the perimeter of the base wall and the roof extends across the top of the sidewall. A travel stop extends downward from the roof. A liquid feedstock flows through a storm water inlet. At least one overflow port is provided through the sidewall. The filter assembly includes a filter element and at least one buoyancy element disposed on a bottom of the filter medium. As water flows through the storm water inlet, the water finds its level above the filter medium to provide a liquid feedstock, some of which penetrates the filter medium to create a filtrate. As the tank fills, the filter assembly rises on top of the filtrate as provided by the buoyancy element.
Abstract:
A system for dewatering a stream of slurry has a first and a second separator. The first separator removes objects above a first size, to produce a stream of primary treated slurry. The second separator removes objects above a second size from the primary treated stream, the second size being smaller than the first size. Optionally, a third separator removes objects above a yet smaller third size from the stream of secondary treated slurry. The first separator has a plurality of sieve mat supports alternately connected to a main support frame section and a movable support frame section so that the flexible sieve mat can be agitated by the movable support frame section, a collector being provided for collecting the primary treated slurry passing through the flexible sieve mat. In an optional step, water contained in the separated solids is removed.
