A mirror assembly security system for a vehicle includes an exterior mirror assembly and a light module removably positioned within the exterior mirror housing. The light module is moisture impervious and includes an enclosure, a light-emitting opening in the enclosure, a light source in the enclosure radiating light through the light-emitting opening, and a cover for the light-emitting opening adapted to direct the light from the light source to an area adjacent the vehicle to create a security area. The light source may be supported by a pair of electrical contacts provided on the inner surface of the enclosure. The enclosure wall supporting the electrical contacts is preferably flexible, in order to allow the light source to be captured by the contacts. Attachment of the cover adds rigidity to the enclosure to prevent further flexure of the enclosure wall in order to firmly retain the light source. The enclosure is preferably configured so that the same unit can be installed in both left and right handed exterior mirror assemblies even though the light module generates a non-symmetrical light pattern. A reflective surface is provided in the enclosure which cooperates with the cover to produce a generally collimated light pattern.

An illuminating device includes a casing having a movable module movably received therein. A first spring is biased between a first end of the movable module and an inside of the close end of the casing. An illuminating member is connected to a second end of the movable module and located in the open end of the casing. A circuit board is connected to the illuminating member and a second spring is biased between the circuit board and a plurality of batteries. A switch device is connected to the batteries and has a button extending from the first end of the movable module. When pushing the second end of the movable module, the button is compressed by the inside of the casing to turn on the illuminating member.

A light source lamp socket of an image reader is formed to be capable of being placed as close to a platen glass as possible to increase the intensity of light beams to be irradiated on a original. A part of each of lamp socket attached on the both ends of a lamp tube of a light source lamp, which faces a platen glass, is cut-away into the shape of one or more flat surfaces such that a part of the lamp tube is exposed from a part of such a flat portion. Therefore, the light source lamp can be move closer to the platen glass a distance corresponding to the depth of the cut-away section of the lamp socket.

The note board is completely watertight, so that it can be used underwater by divers.
